2:09 min/km. That was my top speed according to the Garmin device on my wrist. I'm pretty impressed with that given that I've had so much time off proper training 🙌

I wanted to tentatively try layering some speedwork and speedplay sessions back in. Sometimes I'll be serious, set a task and get to work. Other times I'll set a time, a distance or a route and just play at how fast I can go 🏃‍♀️

Today was a speedwork session but it was still fun, well, the result was fun 😅

Oh! And I got a bit of a shock during my warm up: a Blue Tongue Skink was sunning itself right across the track. While they are pretty much harmless to humans (short of you shoving your actual hand or foot into its mouth!) the pattern on their back is designed to look exactly like a (highly venemous) brown snake 🐍 So while my conscious mind knows it's no threat at all and, in fact, is cute and photo worthy, my primal, hind brain (the part of us that's designed to keep us safe) when it sees a Blue Tongue in my peripheral vision it immediately makes my body freeze on the spot 😅 As silly as it feels I guess I'm pretty lucky, because if it was a brown snake that's exactly what I would want it to do... that and then make me step backwards and out of reach, quick smart 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

All photos by me. But credit to Garmin Connect for the screenshot near the top! 🙏
