Splinterlands - Exponential Growth of Account Value

The Crypto markets are volatile more than ever with Bitcoin price going down and down and the other Cryptos have been following it and have lost potential value from almost all time high positions.
Hive is not far behind in following BTC price as it is trading at $0.33 after reaching $0.84/Hive sometime in April this year.
Splinterlands gaming is something have been part of since it's introduction in 2018 and have been making packs and cards purchases since then.
Splinterlands, as we know, has introduced different editions of monsters in the form of cards like Alpha, Beta, Rewards, Untamed and last one being the Dice and have further plans to introduce other editions as the game grows.

Talking about growth, if you are a Splinterlands battler, you might have noticed that, the account value is growing on a daily basis even if you haven't made the purchases off late or haven't played any battles to earn cards and DEC crypto.

I wrote about 5 days back while creating a blog for Splinterlands weekly challenge that, my account value is worth $6K and when I when I checked the account value yesterday, it was $7.2K!!!!

The value today stands at $8779 as shown in below screenshot captured from peakmonsters.

Reasons for Growth in Account Value:

As @aggroed confirmed recently thru a tweet, the daily average user addition in to Splinterlands has been around 1000 as in confirmed in below screenshot:
That means, the userbase is growing with new people joining this Blockchain game and obviously, they will be purchasing the starter pack and cards as well.
With that information, let's see some of the reasons I can think off for the growth in account value as below:
  • The sellout of Untamed packs with Untamed version being the most popular one after Alpha and Beta versions.
  • Growth in the number of accounts on daily basis and inturn purchases of cards and packs from them.
  • High value of Untamed and other packs on Hive Engine and other markets leading to purchase of cards and growth of card values.
  • Card owners listing the cards at higher price on market as there is no more Untamed packs on Splinterlands marketplace for a chance to earn those required cards.
  • Introduction of rental of cards on marketplace might have also inspired the battlers to try out some huge valued cards and in turn would have made them to purchase those cards from market place.
    • Well, those are some of the reasons I could think off and there might be other reasons as well.

    Is it time to sell or purchase the cards?

    That's a trickier one considering the high value for each of those cards, but, there might also be a chance of more hike in price as the new users join in and invests on Splinterlands thru purchase of cards and packs.
    As we all know, the scarcity of something, creates more interest in that.
    Likewise, the non availability of Untamed packs on Splinterlands marketplace has definitely made the battlers to turn for alternatives like purchasing the cards and that, in turn is appreciating the value of each of the cards.
    The increase in the prices is tempting most of us to sell the high value cards, but we need to keep in mind that, the same cards might become more costlier with less number of those in circulation and non availability of the chances of earning those cards from packs.
    Let's hope the values continues to appreciating and there will be a temptation to sell some of those cards we have.

    I’m also enjoying the increase in value, spectacular stuff. I think the SPS airdrop also has to do with the price increase of cards as people are scrambling for them, ultimately I think there’s still a lot of space for growth

    Ah, yeah, SPS airdrop will be something we all are eagerly waiting for and yes, that will definitely might have triggered the price increase.

    Definitely the early investors will be benefited with all these airdrops and increase in price of cards.
