A Sunday walk in the park

The walk I'm going to share, I did on Sunday. But I thought it was perfect to be shared in the Wednesday Walk.

Last Sunday, my husband and I wanted to go for a walk somewhere other than the park near our house, and we decided to go to Parque del Este as I always call it, since the park is now called Parque Generalisimo Francisco de Miranda. I hadn't been there for a while. This is a large park in the east of Caracas.

The last time I went was during the quarantine. And at that time, the park was quite empty and many areas were a bit abandoned. I already told about that visit here.

This Sunday, on the other hand, the park was crowded. There were lots of people and the day was beautiful, although a bit hot.

We parked in one of the park's parking lots with the idea, to walk the complete circuit of trails in the park and also visit the adjacent Bolivar Park.

The first thing we came across was the replica of the Corvette Leander, with which Francisco de Miranda made his first expedition to Venezuela in the fight for independence.

ParqueDelEste_3_2023.jpg

The last time I visited the park, the corvette was very damaged and could not be visited. A few months ago, it was restored, and now it is open to the public.

You can get on it, but the queue to do so was quite long and under the sun. And we wanted to walk.

ParqueDelEste_4_2023.jpg

We are in the dry season so none of the trees we saw in the park were in bloom except for that orange-flowered Apamate which, although not very leafy, I liked the way it looked.

The pedal boats on the lake were also running, and it was great to see the park so full of life.

We tried to go to a park adjacent to this one that is across the highway, but there is a bridge that crosses it. However, we could not cross because the other park was closed for an official act.

ParqueDelEste_7_2023.jpg

I took this pic from the beginning of the ramp.

We decided to continue our walk through the trails of the park.

ParqueDelEste_8_2023.jpg

The park has huge green areas to enjoy and practice sports.

ParqueDelEste_9_2023.jpg

Or you can lie down in the shade of one of the many trees. Many people go there and have picnics.

ParqueDelEste_10_2023.jpg

Throughout the park, there are many kiosks like this one.

ParqueDelEste_11_2023.jpg

They sell mostly toys and drinks. I remember when my son was little we used to buy him toys to make soap bubbles in those kiosks.

ParqueDelEste_12_2023.jpg

There were people doing different activities and workouts all over the park.

ParqueDelEste_13_2023.jpg

And we even saw that the planetarium building was open and working. But the visit will be for another time.

ParqueDelEste_14_2023.jpg

We passed very quickly through the area where the animals are but they seemed to be very neglected, and we did not take pictures of them except for this iguana.

When we finished the circuit we were exhausted not from the walk but from the sun.

Tizana_Domingo.jpg

We walked about 2 km as shown in the screenshot of the Nike Run app. But even though it wasn't that long, we were exhausted from the sun. So we drove back home but on the way, we stopped at a fruit shop to buy a couple of Tizanas to cool down.

Here the weather is wonderful, and although there are days when it can be hot, it's bearable, and most of the time the weather is pleasant.
However, I think it's cool to have seasons. I hope the snowfall tonight is light.

I did not board the ship. There were long lines. Yes, the park has a lot of vegetation, despite we are in the dry season. In a few months, it will look even more beautiful.

This just show how everything is slowly going back to normal, we can now have a walk outside without getting worried that we might caught something outside and brought it home.

By the way, that replica of Corvette Leander is pretty huge, or is it only at the picture? And and its awesome that you can actually get inside of that. I am proud with our Park too in our place but this one is so pretty.

The replica is quite big. And they let you get on in groups, but since it was Sunday, there were a lot of people waiting in line to get on. So it will be next time;)

That's a long walk sis, but a lovely one with all the interesting things you saw around the park. The Leander is looking gorgeous too. Walking under the sun can be exhausting indeed and looking at the clear blue sky, I can imagine it was a very hot day :)

!LUV this walk, amiga :)

Caracas is a valley and from most of the city, you can see the mountains. And the mountain range to the north of the city is a natural park and is beautiful. The Tizana is very refreshing, it is like a fruit salad but with juice.

A cold and refreshing Tizana after a tiring heat from the sun.

The vibrant vibes of the environment gave me a hint that the weather is scorching hot haha. I hope you wore your sunscreen that time :))
