An Arepin Sandwich for breakfast

ArepinSandwich.jpg

La vida es como la Arepa y sabe a lo que le pongas. - Desconocido
Life is like an Arepa tastes like whatever you put in it. - Unknown

These days, my friend @tengolotodo told me it was about time I did a post for the delicious new community created by the Dude @mondoshawan, a place to share your sassy, yummy, and all kinds of sandwiches that you made yourself. Lizzie @lizelle joined in the demand. And I was telling Ed that I could have shared my arepas breakfast yesterday Sunday, but by the time I thought about it, the arepas had disappeared into our tummies.

But this morning, when I woke up thinking about eating my yogurt and fruit plate, I found that the husband and the cat, Grogu likes greek yogurt, had wiped out the yogurt. So instead of complaining. There it was, I had to start the week with an Arepin Sandwich, and so I had the excuse to share it with my friends from Silver Bloggers.

So I made a couple of arepas, which are made with corn flour. And they are typical of Venezuela and Colombia.

ArepinSandwich1.jpg

They are a kind of sandwich, but instead of bread with arepas. And you can fill them with anything you can think of.

Arepas can be baked, grilled, or even parboiled. At home, I like to make them thin and toasted, and I usually make them in a sandwich toaster to make them thin.

ArepinSandwich2.jpg

First of all, I buttered them. I had some smoked chorizo paste left over from yesterday's breakfast, so I spread it on. And filled them with fresh white cheese, which we call Guayanes, and a few slices of tomato.

ArepinSandwich3.jpg

I added a little pepper and a touch of olive oil, and voila! My Arepin Sandwich was ready.

ArepinSandwich4.jpgWhat do you think, Super Ed, @tengolotodo? Would you take a bite?

So it wasn't my regular Monday kind of breakfast, but who can complain?

Thank you for reading.

I really wouldn't complain about having such a gastronomic marvel for breakfast either, my friend @coquicoin 💟

I love every ingredient you put in it. The guayanes cheese is one of my favorites 🤤 And Mr. cat eating yogurt is one of my favorites 😅

You'd love the smoked chorizo paste, Super Ed! There is smoked chorizo and also black pudding. It's a paste to spread, so yummy! Both are delicious. It's a new product from a very well-known brand here of chorizos for grills.

Yes I would take a bite of you Super Eli...

Jeje, that sounds like a comment of the naughty charming rascal 😂😂😉

Your sandwich sounds really delicious Eli, I've never tasted Arepas, am really keen to make them so I'll be running to YouTube 😅 AND Chorizo paste? Never had that either, but as I looove Chorizo, I'm sure it must be very very good!
So glad you made it here, the entire Silver Bloggers team have shared sandwiches, Fiona's done 2 already👍, great stuff! Hoping @mondoshawan recovers soon to share another whacky sandwich with us😃

Hi Lizzie! Sorry for the late reply. You would like the arepas. We usually make them with pre-cooked corn flour which is sold here in any supermarket but in the villages, you can sometimes get them made as they used to be in the past, made with fresh corn. Hopefully, you will be able to try them one day, I wouldn't be surprised if with so many Venezuelans having to leave the country, there is a place that sells Venezuelan food over there.
Let's see if this week things are more settled around here and I can make something new for the Sandwich community. Have a lovely week 🤗

Yep, you could try to make it. This one is made with corn flour instead of wheat.

Awww what a very delicious Arepin sandwich. Corn flours when processed for foods are normally delicious to taste plus all the ingredients you put in there like olive oil, pepper, white cheese, and guayanes. This is really very delicious. How I wish I could take a bite of it, dear friend @coquicoin. I hope you are having a great time and take care.
