It wasn't a day for a walk after all

This morning we took Grogu to be neutered. We had been delaying the moment for some time since the vet told us to wait until he was 8 months old.

He turned 8 months old last November, but my son didn't want us to do it at that time and wanted us to wait to do it when he came home for Christmas. Then he came and time flew by, and we didn't do it.

But these days, my aunt told me that on Wednesdays in a vet clinic where she took her cats in the past, they have spay/neuter days on Wednesday mornings and it is less expensive than at the vet's office. So, taking advantage of the fact that hubby could take today off from work to go, we took him early this morning.

We arrived at the site, and there were several people with their cats. It was first come, first served. So we signed up, and as we had to wait at least an hour to be attended to, we went to have breakfast at a bakery near the site.

Grogu was a bit scared, but he behaved quite well. He hadn't left the house since the first few months when he was a little kitten and we didn't like to leave him alone, so we took him out a couple of times.

So after a coffee and a ham bread (cachito), we went back to the vet clinic.

A short stroll for Wednesday's walk

When our turn came, we delivered Grogu and were told to wait for him in a kind of park that was diagonal to the site. The clinic is small and they ask people to don't wait there to avoid crowds.

The place where we had to wait and which they referred to as a park, was more like an area with a basketball court, a small space with a few trees, and some roofed spaces where there was some old junk.

At the site, you could see that they kept a couple of street food carts. They were probably just stored there and use elsewhere, as I don't think that "park" get many visitors.

The site had nothing special. And to top it off, it was on the banks of the Guaire River, which crosses Caracas.

And the truth is that the Guaire riverbank is not pretty at all. The river is polluted. And there, it goes next to the highway.

But I still took some pictures during the long wait. Like this one of the dry leaves of the trees that covered a large part of the ground.

And this one of the clear blue sky and the building in front of the vet clinic.

We wait for hours since even though the procedure is fast, they don't let you take your cat until he wakes up.

And Grogu took a couple of hours to wake up. He came out of there still pretty doped up from the anesthesia. He barely could open his eyes.

But finally, they gave him to us, and we went back home. He spent the afternoon and the evening sleeping. From time to time, he tries to stand up, but he walks like a little drunkard. So we have been spoiling him even more than usual.

So today we took the step with Grogu to have him neutered.

And this is also my little attempt to join the #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay in collaboration with #makemesmile hosted by @elizacheng like every Wednesday.

Do you really need to neuter an animal there? In our country, we don't do such 😅. Maybe others...
But it seems like Grogu wants to be spoiled more hehe..

Need? I don't know if that's the word. It's more of a choice and circumstance. Male cats when they are not neutered tend to want to escape when they are in heat to look for cats. When they are not used to the street, they can get hurt because they get into fights with other cats and some do not survive that situation, others get lost and never return. And with female cats, it is to protect them from pregnancies. But it is not a rule and it is more a question of choice.

Aww Ageese what has your mother done to you!
Ah well at least you had him sorted now Super Eli.
It is a shame the river is polluted like that. They used to be here, until they got cleaned up
Sweet dreams and enjoy Thursday when you wake.

Oh! Super Ed don't mention it. We are suffering more than he is. We had been debating for a while whether to do it or not, but we hope we made the best decision. Today he is better although still a little slow, but little by little he is getting back to his old self.

It would be so good if they would decontaminate the river but since I can remember it is like this, and it is getting worse as time goes by.

Happy Thursday, Super Ed! 🌀

Well it was the right thing to do.

He will be right as rain soon enough!

Ah yes hopefully they sort the river out. They did it with the Thames in London and the Lagan in Belfast...

Happy Thursday Super Eli 💙🔵

I hope so it was the right thing to do, Super Ed. He still seems sad and not the same. He doesn't want to play. I guess he still feels bad. I hope he will be back to his old Ageese self soon.

I'm not very optimistic about the river if I tell you the truth, but it would be a great thing if they do something for it.

Happy Friday, Super Ed! 💙🌀

a pity the park was so run down but still better to be outside and distracted and not stressing to much about your cat, I hope he bounces back and does well

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

Thanks, Grogu is better today and I'm sure in a couple of days he will be fully recovered. And yes, it is a pity that space is not well cared for, because it is very wooded and could be a nice park.

I never enjoy vet visits with Newt. He howls the whole car drive there and back. We neuter here, too.

My landlady, however, has a slew of outside cats that breed and breed. I feel so bad for them. Her live in boyfriend feeds them so they continue multiply like flies.
Your boy is adorable 😍

I'm curious, who came up with the name Grogu?😅 Sounds like something from Star Wars😅

But Grogu is so cute and admirable. I can't wait to get a cat. They are the best.
I would have wanted to be present in the room when they did the neutering though, I wonder why they didn't let you guys in.

Thanks for sharing this experience with us.
Wednesday walk with a twist!
Have a nice week ahead.
