We went for the sandwich and had the best Latte

Artesano, coffeeshop, Caracas downtown

Last weekend, when we visited the historic center of the city, we had in mind to satisfy a craving that both my husband and I had. The day we visited El Calvario park, as we left the park, we went with our friends to a coffee shop very close to Plaza Bolivar. We had never been there before. And we ate some delicious sandwiches. Since that day, we wanted to go again.

So last weekend, after the visit to the Sacred Museum of Caracas and the Archbishop's Palace, we went to the café to satiate our craving for those sandwiches.

Artesano1.jpg

The cafe is called Artesano and is located on Boulevard Panteón, a few steps from the cathedral of Caracas. From the outside, it doesn't say much, but I assure you that it is worth going in.

Artesano9.jpg

When we arrived the place was packed, and we had to wait for a table. And I of course had to take a picture. In the background, the counter where they have the sausage to make the sandwiches can be seen. The sausages and meats are made themselves.

And even though the place was full we didn't have to wait long for a table.

Artesano6.jpg

I ordered what I had been looking for, a sandwich they call Muchacha del Campo. It is smoked beef, it also has cheese and relishes and they serve it with a delicious house mayonnaise. The husband ended up eating the same kind of sandwich, although he was looking for a spicy chorizo one. But they didn't have it for the moment, and only had garlic chorizo. So he also opted for the Muchacha del Campo. And we have an excuse to go back soon.

Artesano12.jpg

Our table was very close to the coffee bar. And I couldn't take my eyes off how creamy looked the Lattes they were making.

I'm usually more of a cappuccino or a smooth black coffee, the American type that we call guayoyo here. But this time, my eyes were going after the lattes at the bar.

Artesano7.jpg

And I ordered one. It was delicious and I would say the best I have had in a long time.

Artesano8.jpg

My sweet tooth, of course, couldn't leave without something sweet, and we ordered a carrot cupcake that my husband and I shared. It was yummy.

Artesano13.jpg

While we were drinking our coffee, the cups painted on the top of the wall at the entrance of the restaurant caught my attention. They are special coffees they make. When I saw them, I remembered the conversation a few weeks ago at Cinnamon Cup Coffee, in which the topic was whether you like coffee with ice cream or liquor. I'm not going to get into it, but speaking of coffee with liquor, some of those specialty coffees look interesting.

Like the Marietta with espresso, cinnamon, cream, and brandy. The Fabiana with espresso, cream, rum syrup, and sarrapia. Or the Guaro with espresso, cocuy, and orange sugar. Interesting combinations.

Artesano10.jpg

For now, I can't try them until I finish my anticoagulant treatment, but I hope that I will be able to do it soon. In the meantime, which one would you try?

For the two sandwiches, a lemonade with papelón, a hibiscus tea, two large lattes, and a carrot cupcake, we paid $25 if I remember correctly.

I love going to this place to eat, this area has come alive with several new cafes. The photos are super cool. The sandwiches are very good. Last time I had a serrano ham one, I don't remember the name, it was funny the name.

A hug

My wife was with me when I read your article and the sandwich caught her attention. He asked me if I could prepare a similar one at home and now I'm in trouble! 🤦😂 I like sandwiches too but I prefer coffee and cake because I'm a dessert lover 🤩 On rainy days, I say a cinnamon cake and a hot coffee... I feel like it. 🍰☕

The Muchacha del Campo. look so good! They remind me of a Cuban sandwich that I love that is so yummy!! On all counts. I am in love with great little places like this. I don't need fancy, just clean and a peaceful environment. That is what makes it pleasant for me. Look at your coffee, topped with that artistic touch! I would love to be able to do that to my coffee at home! Every day, a special coffee!

I just scrolled back again to look at the sandwich!! I can see the bread looks like it holds that sandwich together!

You got a great view of the business end of things where you were seated, for sure! I find it so nice when a particular area improves and makes it a pleasure to walk through. Thank you for bringing us with you1 ❤️

Hello!! Market Friday is running so late this week, apologies! I was under the spell of the family holiday, surrounded by family and obligations, although they are heart-warming wonderful ones! No internet or sketchy at best has been my best friend. Yikes, right? To be honest, I tried and failed to even post this week, but, I was so very happy to see you putting one out! Thank you! I apologize for the delay in answering and I hope you know how much I appreciate the great participation.

I try to let people know how much I appreciate their participation in #MarketFriday! Even though I get many on a weekly basis, each one is read and enjoyed. I find it interesting to compare, not by the world's standards, but, by how we find the quality of our life with different I enjoy learning more about you and hope you feel the same, that is why I find it important to take the time to read a couple of #MarketFriday posts and leave a genuine comment. There have been so many carrying #MarketFriday for me in my absence! I am so happy to see that! I leave you with the guidelines. I hope you are having an amazing week!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a movie, an auction, or even a museum. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or product. Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? Was it expensive? Did it go up or down? A scroll of pictures with few words doesn't usually work. Things need to be explained.
  3. Post the pictures. Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post, it is too difficult to guess about some.
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post (#hive-196308) This is not required but appreciated.
5.PLEASE Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it!!
  5. Following me and reblogging the post would be appreciated, but not a rule, more vision for more views on the #MarketFriday posts!
  6. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
