Leave at Your Own Peril

We see posts on a regular basis highlighting something new on Hive or a project update on some new development. This is what we have grown accustom to expect over the last 20 months or from day 1 on Hive. Maybe not day one, but you get my point that things have progressed at a hectic pace.

We are probably the worst people to judge how much things have changed and compare it to living with someone you see every day. Those that haven't seen you for years notice how you have aged, but the ones around you don't as it is a gradual process. The same applies on Hive as it is just another day at the office for most of us.

Someone I know returned to the Hive family this week being @blanchy and he is no dummy when it comes to the blockchain. The changes in the time he has been away which was roughly a year are immense and it is not like starting fresh but one needs to take time to see the changes.

I have been answering questions on discord this week filling him in where he is not quite sure on something. The one thing I can't do is the DeFi thing as that is something that doesn't show on Hive even though it is part of Leofinance. The reality is we are more than just a blockchain that has games and blogging. We have all moved on and the development is moving us in a certain direction. Everyone has to learn new skills to keep up or you will be left behind.

The place we left or our former home this isn't the case as I expect one could leave that for a year or two and pick straight back up like nothing has changed. That is because there is no development and nothing ever changes which is what we were all kind of used to. Bit like a mushroom being kept in the dark being fed bullshit in order to grow. Hive is exactly the opposite thankfully as the developers just do their thing and the community benefits.

I thought I would highlight this as it is refreshing to hear someone not biased returning being blown away by what they now find here. Answering questions like do I post on Hive or somewhere else? I can't recall last when I used Hive like we all did years ago. The tribes have definitely taken over and it hasn't split the Hive community up but has made more sense out of what it was.

When the bull cycle happens more and more old faces will appear and it is going to be fun to watch as for many it will be a 4 year gap and a gap too big to take advantage like they did the last time around. No bid bots is a massive plus which will screw most of them form the outset. The use of downvotes which most of us are not scared to use will knock them into line or knock them from where they came from as the mindset of the community has changed accepting no nonsense these days. The tribes having their own curating teams is the difference and not relying on a group covering everything as they look out for good and bad.

Personally I wouldn't leave Hive for even a week let alone a year or two as the FOMO would be too great plus the connections I have on here are genuine. I don't think users returning will leave again as they can see what has happened and is happening clearer than we can.

For this reason I am going to try and be connected to Hive as best I can, even if it through only comments such as this one

I have a few up my sleeve alright @empress-eremmy but my English would not be half as good as your elegant posts.

Hive is a thriving eco-system.
There is so much happening that it is hard to keep up anymore. The thing is that is it still being driven by a few people doing massive work. As we move forward we will see some fresh blood joining the system and creating even more.
Success brings more success so everything that is being built now will just get more people involved.

This summer I was on a road trip that lasted 3 days where I was driving all day, and resting by night... When I finally got to my destination, I know that I needed almost a week to come back and catch with everything on HIVE! lol...
I can't even imagine how many things are changed in the last year two... Split from old blockchain, tribes, blockchain gaming, Defi stuff on HIVE and outside the HIVE... just this last (Defi) had almost 3 big "generations" in only 1-2 years...

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project and it will be highlighted in the next post!

I start getting a bit of withdraw when I have to be away for a weekend. I can't even imagine a year! Great that he has found his way back and that he is impressed.

There has definitely been a lot of awesome stuff happening the last year. Fingers crossed he was sitting on a decent Splinterlands deck and didn't sell it before his hiatus!
