Sanctions Are Harder To Bypass Due To Tracking Apps

Logistical must have tool.

The technology we have at our finger tips today via various apps is mind blowing as information is what drives how we all live and work. Over the last two years Marine Traffic has been a must have tool for any logistical or warehouse company. Shipping companies and brokers cannot sugar coat the facts as it literally takes seconds to find out the truth.

I used this a few years back when I ran a bicycle assembly plant and needed to know up to date arrivals due to having severe storage restraints. Having 20 containers arriving or not arriving is crucial to planning and what work load is required. What delays are occurring at the time as weather with wind being the most common delay, but now waiting times are the need to know information due to supply chain issues.

The Marine Traffic app is more than that these days as not only does it provide the information everyone is trying to hide (fake news) but lets everyone know who is doing what. I am talking sanctions as the shipments of Russian oil is now clear for everyone to follow. Governments cannot hide behind words as the actions show exactly who and what is doing what with who.

4 days ago over 9 million barrels of oil left Kazakhstan's CPC Terminal in Russian territory. This was the first shipping movement after 10 days of inactivity. Each vessel will have a destination port and following who takes what is not that hard to track.

There is definitely a big brother watching every movement and ships that are supposed (records) to have been scrapped cannot hide either.

In the past sanctions were fairly easy to bypass , but things have changed with this app covering virtually every piece of water. How it works is they have over 18 000 volunteers running data collection points which receive the information from the ships transponders or identification signal. I suppose this is a bit like node operators with the more you have the better the service offered.

The aircraft app Flightradar runs somehting similar and how they tracked the Russian oligarchs jets recently. There is nowhere to hide as the public is watching and this is what has changed over the last 10 years. Satellites are great for visual information but these apps provide far more information than you would think as the history of every trip is stored on the database.
