Sportstalk Curation Showcase

Another week has passed and it seems like it was just the other day I was writing the last showcase. The idea behind this showcase post is too highlight authors and especially new ones wherever possible. All the posts are live meaning they fall in the 7 day window of curation. An upvote or a follow would be great if you find somehting you enjoy reading. Finding new authors is not always easy as we often get stuck in our usual feed.

Nick Walker The new Arnold Eng-Esp

@kraken99 kicks us off this week with an interesting post about body building. I know very little except a client of mine does this as a sport and yes he even wears make up and a fake tan. I always saw body builders making up for their loss in height as it was always the short shits that were muscle bound. Maybe there is an inferiority complex going on but something has to be driving them to do this sort of thing. This is one sport you know there is doping going on as these guys must be sponsored the stuff they use so much. Hard to believe the guy in the photograph has only been it the sport for one year and with lockdowns must have taken everyone by surprise. Steroids can do that to someone within 6 months as we had an ex rugby team mate travel to Italy and came back a monster. Maybe this guy will follow in Arnold's footstep san d look for movie contracts. An excellent read and hope @kracken99 finds some more of these gems around.

Faltered Again.

@olawalium'spost I couldn't resist as there is one team I love to see lose or draw it is United lol. I think what makes it sweeter is we don't get to hear that cheesy Glory Glory Man Utd song blaring out over the intercom system after a match which is an extra incentive for away teams.

I just never understand United fans as they expect so much and are so fickle which makes it even better to wind them up. The team is not exactly a world beater and again qualifying for Europe should be their target and anything else is a bonus. At least @olawalium has his head screwed on straight and can see this as they are going to be tested over the next few months. For me they are just another team in the Premiership as they have done nothing since Fergusson left so anything achieved now is new. Almost 10 years since they won the Premier League so it shows you only a special bunch of players and a good manager can achieve this. If you like football then give @olawalum a follow as he doesn't sugar coat things and says it how it is.

The NBA: No Pressure

@empress-eremmy is the last post to be featured this week and another good read. This week she discusses basketball players who get signed up via the draft and of those that miss out. Like in nay sport only a small percentage make it to the very top and no doubt plenty of talent is discarded each season. Just because you are 7ft somehting and can jump like gazelle and run like Bolt means absolutely nothing, but it helps. I am not sure what percentage of players who missed out on the draft actually make it to the big time but I have seen it happen in other sports. If you are good enough and dedicated anything is still possible as proving yourself is up to you.

This week was a frustrating week as we had so many posts we had to skip
for various reasons. Please engagement is the key to everything on Hive so please read and comment on other posts. We need more posts so please keep writing away as this is our tribe and sports is what we all enjoy.

Thank you yet again to everyone in the sportstalk tribe for doing what you do and lets make it the best tribe on Hive.

Jeez that was harsh on small people 😁 What's "small" anyway. The bodybuilder is 1m70, it's kinda small, riiiight? I am not saying this because I am 1m75 ok? 😂

Tell us more on why you had to skip! Is it the lack of engagement?

When I saw the photo first thing I wondered was why anyone would Jack themselves up to this extent. I won't be body shaming though as I understand this is art, but it certainly isn't my kind of art... Or sport

I guess it has to do with canons of beauty, and a skewed image perception.

In some ways, I compare it to tuning your car and adding a spoiler? Not my cup of tea neither, but I understand "the appeal".

Thanks for the feature. I really need to step up my engagement game, wish I had more time to give new posts a read outside of my base following

Congratulations to all the winners. I think the sports community is growing for the better although I notice a certain discontinuity in posting content starting with myself.

I have actually taken the decision to make between 20-30 votes on posts I like every time I go in to publish a post (not every day) and between 2 and 3 comments.

I once read that 1 to 10 was the right ratio but I really struggle to find accurate information on this.

I also notice that several users have stopped posting to dedicate themselves to curating posts. Not only in this Community but in the whole #HIVE platform.

Taking advantage of your experience it would be a positive thing to make an article about it @cryptoandcoffee.

Regards.
