Why Am I Not Surprised

I feel for the players being kept out the team when we all know they should be selected.

This morning South Africa were dumped out of the ICC T20 World Cup yet again and they only have themselves to blame. All the team had to do was beat Holland who are by no means a top team. They are in the second tier of cricketing nations and still need to be put away.

How ironic that two ex South Africans were playing for Holland and they made the difference. Players leave countries for many reasons but in South African sport if your skin is the wrong colour you are disadvantaged. The team has to have 3 black players at all times no matter how good or bad they are. Players who are colored or of mixed race do not count as they are too light skinned which is seriously insulting to every race around the world.

Amazing how one tweet can not only sum up South African sport, but the way the country is run today. This is all too common and expected with others having to carry the weight of those who shouldn't be part of the set up.

Back in 2011 the controlling body for cricket announced that no Government Official could be appointed on the national board of various countries. This hasn't done much as we can see the Government influence in South African sports. The selectors are puppets being dictated by the powers above so there is still very much a sport being run by the Government.

The SA Rugby team is not without the influence from above either and thankfully there are enough players of certain standard these days too not make that much of a difference. Still it does hamper the team as when we saw a player injured a few months back being replaced by a sub standard player only because of skin color. I am just disgusted that in 2022 this is still being allowed to take place as it is clear and obvious what is going on.

Would other countries allow this to happen to their national teams and even at lower levels. A clear message was sent when the local franchise T20 tournament selected their teams ignoring sub standard players who have been constantly selected by the South African selectors. There was no political meddling in this as it was purely sporting decisions made by businesses who know who is who in the sport and what they offer.

When you love a sport the color of your skin should never ever be mentioned as it has nothing to do with the sport as we are all equal.

This is two T20 World Cups now that have been tampered with by officials and this will not end as this will continue even when players are replaced. There are a number of talented youngsters around at the present time and they will have to carry a handicapped side for the next decade. No one would blame them for leaving like others have before and representing another country as winning is not going to happen on the cricket field especially in World Cups. One off games or a test series is way different to having to win 4 or 5 games on the spin in a World Cup as a team is required and not 2 or 3 players hidden amongst them.

My mom's cousin was a Springbok rugby captain and before her death she used to say that so many of our good players are emigrating, that one day South Africa will play against itself.
Looks like it is happening.
