Rinse and Repeat in Hive: Leveraging on account brand and expanding the influence

(Edited)

I have been wanting to write this for some time. I just haven't been able to put a finger to it, thus the delay. Today, the stars aligned and I am able and motivated enough to share this. You won't regret reading this.

In this post, I am sharing my thoughts on the idea of "Rinse and Repeat in Hive", and discuss how one can leverage on account brand and expand the influence by setting up families of accounts to earn in Hive.

You probably came across some Hivers having multiple accounts of similar names. I shall not name them, but in my case, I have this cryptothesis account and another cryptothesis2 account. I shared my plans for this second account previously. Others may have accounts names with a different extension, so to speak, with the extension signifying a second layer tribes token such as leo, pob or vyb.

Why do people do that? Isn't it more efficient to concentrate all of one's HP into one account? Having separate accounts to manage seems tedious and divides the available resources and energy too.

The realization that I have arrived at is that Hivers do this to leverage their account brand and this helps them grow the second/third/subsequent account more efficiently. Basically, if we had been following an account, and we see similar names, we are more likely to treat them as the same subconsciously. At the very least, we may support their posts by upvoting them. Somehow we trust they are providing quality posts. That is a big deal, in my opinion.

Think MacDonalds. People recognize the brand and walk right in. They have branches all over the world selling the same thing. They are reaping the benefit from their brand. More importantly, they are also in a better position to manage the business because they are duplicating a trial and tested business management system. In fact, businesses with branches can be enjoying the scale of economies as they can often buy the raw materials needed for the operation at a lower price. The energy cost for running a second account can be perceivably less.

Others set up different branches with a slight twist to cater to different segments of the audience or to leverage different systemic offerings. For example, one can set up a sister account loaded with LEO tokens and just focus on posts and curation on Leo Finance. That has the advantage of making good use of LEO account HP for maximizing curation rewards. In my case, though I have a pretty decent stash of LEO HP, I haven't been able to use the votes from it maximally because I tend to upvote posts that are not featured there. I am considering setting up a cryptothesis-leo account to facilitate that.

Previously, I wrote that our knowledge about Hive is something precious. Since we already know enough of how Hive works, why not rinse and repeat the success we have to reach out to new readers by focusing on different topics or add a different twist to the same interest area through another sister account. I think the effort would be lesser than we imagine, but the benefit can be exponential because we are leveraging on the original brand.

I am not afraid to share this openly because I think it is a normal progression one can take. Many Hivers are already doing that. In fact, people should be encouraged to do that to help expand the scope of Hive so that new people can be reached. Furthermore, Hive should be a place people can come and make a successful business on, besides being a fun social media. This enterprising slant is how Hive will flourish. Please help to reblog this.

In my own case, I have already filled this account with 10K HP recently. No more pouring in of fiat to it. With the 10K HP, I can enjoy relatively good attention given the curation power that comes along with it. I should start building my @cryptothesis2 account! It will have a slightly different focus. Watch out for it!

Hope you like my crypto thesis. :)

See, I even have a branding logo with my posts!

I agree with you that having multiple accounts might have its uses at some point.

However, I believe that before taking this step it is necessary to develop the primary account well.

Surely in the future I could also open another account but as a cap I gave myself 50k HP before doing so.

Nice analysis and very useful post, congratulations!

Thanks, mate.

50k?! Very tall order for me. Maybe I will see how my branches can earn that to contribute to the main account and then i rinse and repeat.

Heh heh yes it's high for me too but I think it's a great score to unleash the full potential of secondary accounts.

Thank you for the answer and for the nice post!

That was amazing number for beginner like me who only starting to blog 2-3 month ago. But that will become my goal to. To get 5-10k HP and get good income from blog and curation. Thank you for sharing this. Ok you can tag me.

That's a great idea I do have to agree with you. One that I've wanted to try myself for a long time 🤔
Do you run any ither coin from your second account or not really??

I still haven't really made other accounts to post/engage but I do think that the branding effect is quite helpful. You can probably tell who it is from the name but I just don't see that as necessary for me because I am busy enough as it is. I don't think I have the time to manage all of that.

Thank you very much for this explanation! I was wondering exactly the same!
Why do people do that? Isn't it more efficient to concentrate all of one's HP into one account? Having separate accounts to manage seems tedious and divides the available resources and energy too.
Still I think your angle with accunts with a different focus could help people who have a lot of time to write, I think... I'm not one of these guys, so that will be a difficult one for me.
The McDonalds example I'm not getting I'm afraid. I don't see how doing the same "actions" for a second account could grow both accounts faster than using the double of the resources in 1 account?...
