My Low Cost dcity Starter City/Citizen Mining Experiment

Disclaimer: This post is not financial advice. If you decide to make purchases or follow what I am doing you do so at your own risk.

I have recently seen posts from ecoinstant and some other people about starter/ citizen mining cities. I decided to try this myself, though doing it a little differently.

I had a budget of 50k SIM (332 SIM remaining)and I built a city .This is about $20 to get started mining citizens and includes the price of workers. With some adjustments, on a stricter budget someone could probably do this for around $15.

Also note my primary account donated one student card for the tax refund so that the income is not 0 with high taxes. I will essentially pay this back to my main account once I mine at least one student.

Here are the cards I bought:

34 Workers
18 Music Store
1 law Firm
1 Research Center
6 School
1 University
2 Hotel
1 Forest
9 Basic Home
7 Art gallery
41 Park

It's not perfect and there are certainly a few things I would change if I were to do this again (which I may). But I not only wanted to set it up to mine citizens I also was thinking a bit in the future and got some cards I don't necessarily need right now (like the research center ).I do intend to unlock the tech tree on this account so I figured I may as well get the card as I will need it later.

If I was on a stricter budget I would have bought more parks instead of music stores (this really helps to build population especially at the beginning). I also wouldn't have purchased the two hotels so early. Cutting these things and a few minor adjustments at current prices (subject to change) I probably could have built the city for closer to 35-40k SIM.

I also intend to use this city to help my main city. I will be trading the homeless and immigrant cards I mine on the second city for a worker or other cards from my main city. This is because my training percentage is high on my main account and those cards will be trained and essentially upgraded- increasing their value.

I will then sell the worker/other citizen cards on my second account and use those funds for more cards (or keep the cards if they are needed) and repeat . I intend to unlock the tech tree to mine tech cards on this account as well but not at first.

First I will focus on building this account up. I will be focused on cards with good education stats. This will help my popularity number as well.

So far I have mined one homeless citizen after about 4 days . The first 3 days I did not have the full 30% chance for new citizens as I was still setting it up and playing around with stuff.

My main account seems to get citizens about 4-5 times a week. I haven't actually counted so my estimate could be off a bit.

I have also decided to head in a slightly different direction on my main account, but I will go into detail on that in a separate post.

That's it for this post. Thanks so much for reading.♥️🦄
