Changes To Your Vote Value On ListNerds.com
I tonight's Thursday Night Live we made an announcement on the changes we have made to your vote value on ListNerds.com
Here's the formula that you can find out how much your vote is worth on the platform:
Your Stake / The Top Stake X 10 = Vote Value
So to break it down, we'll use my account to determine my vote value (@jongolson)
(All information is provided on the 'RICHLIST' inside of the platform)
3133 Staked ListNerds / 11,845 (top staked by @jimmy.adames) X 10 = 2.64 Vote Value
What does this mean?
When I use my vote on ListNerds, I influence 2 things:
The reputation of the sender, it can go up or down by 2.64 points
The score needed to verify the email to receive LISTNERDS tokens. So example, every message needs a score of 20 in order to be validated, I can influence the score up or down by 2.64
There are a few reasons we decided to give this new model a try but the biggest reason, as we discuss in the video above...
The more LISTNERDS you stake on the platform, the more influence you should have on it.
We think this will allow more LISTNERDS to get distributed as the higher stakers of the token have a vested interest in it's success. So if they are voting on content, they will want only the best content to be rewarded!
So far, the numbers have looked promising but nothing is ever written in stone. At the end of the day, we want the members of ListNerds to benefit the most!

I agree that top holders should have more influence. However, I'm concerned that there is a big difference in holders in the TOP50, at the bottom, people don't have 1 point vote. This could create a situation where average users mail wont get verified without a TOP10 holders vote and gives the feeling of only the rich get richer. Of course it may not come to this, lets see how it turns out.
It's a catch 22 for sure. But we think it's early enough now that everyone has a chance to stack some !CTP and LISTNERDS. Especially if they are regular users of the platform!

I think the change is good but I probably need to work more on sending out more mail. At least, I am not that satisfied with what my vote is worth because it's worth less than 1 right now. Jimmy might need to stop increasing his Listnerds value as fast so the rest of us can go up in vote value.

Though I still don't understand completely the implications of this change, my initial response is one of excitement and "Wow!" 🤣 Certainly, the top stakers as you mentioned will do their best for the platform to succeed for doing so will be consistent to their own interest. Based on my observation, the top stakers are more concerned with the quality of content. As such, those who deliver good content, whether they are newcomers or small stakers have nothing to worry about. I think it is proper for big stakers to have more influence in the voting process. Greater blessings to all Hivers on ListNerds!

Very interesting. I noticed the change to the interface, but I didn't really know that you had made these changes until I read the post. I found the post on listnerds of course. I also noticed that some of my vote scores were higher than they had been, but I didn't realize why until now. I just thought more people were voting on my mails! Thanks for the update!
Yeah I noticed right away, the people that seemed to downvote a lot, had lower stake lol
But this way, quality content always wins!

I understand what you are doing and why. My fear is that this will discourage the lower-ranking members to participate. The lower ranks voting power will have little to no effect. I can see the gap between the upper ranks and the lower ranks widening quickly. Let's see what happens. Thanks for all you, Blain, and Eliana do.
I mean, if they produce real awesome content they will get upvotes and earn a bunch of LISTNERDS.

I was a little hesitant at first when the news was broken by Chris @mba2020. After seeing it in action, I guess it is a fair distribution to reward those who have worked harder without totally eliminating a newer member.

I really LOVE this feature. Another way to add value and encourage members to build their reputations and investment in the platform. I also very much feel that a larger stakeholder's vote should have more value attached to it.

I watched this show from end to end and I can see why you've changed up the voting weight on listnerds. It definitely adds the same proof of stake as hive, and it de-centivizes spammers, scammers, plagiarists, and multi-account gaming of the system.
Great work you're doing figuring out the tokenomics and mechanisms for listnerds relatively quickly.

A stake-weighted vote was absolutely necessary, imo! Not that I'd have more influence, but because it prevents abuse from anyone not invested in the platform.
One question. Will there be the possibility of fractional votes in the future? Not sure if they are needed, but it's a point some may want to comment on. Currently, with the new formula, the votes of two or three top holders should be enough to pass the validation for an email.
I am not sure of the model yet. Need to try it out for a while. But it indicates the same situation as anywhere else: People with more holdings get more power. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing. It always depends on how you use it of course.
But this provokes a situation where whales come in an have more power over small people. In general I don´t like this. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
I think the vote of every person should have the same value.
This is only my feeling about it and it could be that I am totally wrong so let´s see how it goes.
I love the blockchain, when I feels something funny in my back pocket wallet, I know it's Thursday night and the CTP crew is checking things out in there! Love the !CTP feature, been using it a lot. The CTP counter doesn't seem to work in my CTP wallet, not sure what's up with that. It would be useful for me to know how many calls I have per day.
Interesting change. Nothing will ever be 100% perfect ... But as long as we have people creating quality content, and responsible whales who are willing to distribute their votes to quality content it should all work out.
