Curator Cat Considers: Additional Benefits of Saving some HBD

Greetings Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia!

Continuing my experimental journey of building a very small account in the world of Hive. I call it "experimental" in the sense that I am setting out with the intention of building something significant through only the very small amounts that come from occasional posting, engagement and curation... and investing those things wisely (I hope!).

Hedging With HBD During Unstable Times

In a previous post, I mentioned that I was going to start adding some HBD to savings, to earn that 20% interest. So far, I've only managed to set aside about 30HBD, but it all counts, right?

What I really like about doing this is earning a nice rate of return while at the same time somewhat limiting my exposure to the current wild market swings.

We can debate whether or not HBD is a true "stablecoin," but it certainly isn't swinging around as crazily as many other tokens out there.

To be honest, another thing I actually like about holding HBD is that it isn't a large cap token... no billions being moved around by institutional investors hoping to score a profit through market manipulations.

Staying Inside the Community

I'm also really appreciative of the fact that HBD allows me to stay within the community and thus feel like I am still supporting Hive, in my own small way.

"Venue loyalty" matters to some of us!

Of course, staying inside the community may also have its limitations. However, I am viewing all this from the perspective not of creating "life savings," but more something like perhaps funding a trip or simply having an emergency stash for unexpected vet bills.

Since I also tend to be more of a long term player, this is also my way of exploring the "time value of money" over a longer period of time.

Onwards!

=^..^=

I'm not a fan of fiat currencies after the latest money printing all over the globe and I'm more confident in HODLing crypto... But, you are right about the hedging with HBD as in uncertain times, it's good to have some stablecoins on the side... to not sell and spend crypto at the bottom... :)

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project and it will be highlighted in the next post!

20% interest is quite much compared to what other stablecoin has to offer in terms of their Apr rate

Dear @curatorcat.pal, sorry to jump in a bit off topic but may I ask you to support the HiveSQL proposal?
It lost its funding recently and your help would be much appreciated to keep the HiveSQL service free for the Hive community.
You can do it on Peakd, Ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.

Thank you for your support!

And don't forget about saving for the occasional treat, like catnip or a new toy! :)
