I really really love this idea. It'll be amazing if they could pull this off. I still think it's better to move to PoS system instead of PoW. There's better payment options with more privacy like Dash, PIVX. Zcash. But it's still progress towards crypto :)

agreed. But somehow bitcoin as the big headline grabber had to be the foundation of the first crypto cities to give them the attention they need. I can imagine that this project will see a lot of interesting new ground broken and probably a lot of mistakes made. Hopefully it isnt a complete disaster and soon PoS cities can follow in its slipstream with improved forms of governance, transaction and social awesomeness.

In every program there is always trial and error, and it is true what you say, but when it finally succeeds, all countries will want to do the same.
If I remember correctly, some Asian countries have strategic free trade cities, where cryptocurrencies are freely accepted, I think El Salvador wants to take it to the next level.

Of course, these are issues that need to be improved, since the PoS system has many advantages, besides being more feasible for everyone, especially if they intend to mine with a volcano.
