Plagiarism is the act of writing, presenting and copying someone's thought, expression, idea and knowledge as your own . It usually occur in both academic and non-academic writing and it is considered as theft and fraudulent act. Plagiarism is a strong offence and it is often considered as academic dishonesty. There are several ways in which plagiarism can occur.

Direct Copying of someone else's work

This type of plagiarism involve s word to word copy of another person's idea, thought and writing. This form of plagiarism is very bad , it is just like stealing another person's
work.

paraphrasing plagiarism

This type of plagiarism involve changing someone else's writing. either changing the word to similar word or restructuring the sentence without citing the source. It is also refer to as MOSAIC plagiarism. This is another common form of plagiarism that we must make sure we are avoiding.
Other forms of plagiarism is Accidental plagiarism. This also involve changing of word and paraphrasing sentence without source.

How to avoid plagiarism

One of the ways to avoid plagiarism is to read, understand and digest what we want to write on and then write in our own words .
NOTE: If the ideal is still not our own idea, even after reading and understanding,we will still need to cite the owner of the idea.
Also write in your own idea and if possible you paraphrase, endeavor to put the source of the information. If you use image that's not created by you, make sure you cite the source of the image .
