It's Official: You can Earn *REAL* Money with Crypto!

After spending the last four plus years doing nothing but adding fiat to buy more crypto and then moving it around online, I did something today a looooooong time in coming. I actually found a way to take some crypto earnings and put it back in my bank account.

I know, I know. I've heard all the stories of people buying cars and houses and even food and coffee, but in all this time I have literally never taken a dime out. Not once.

When I got hooked by an infomercial from Teeka Tiwari back in 2017, I had no idea the rabbit hole I was going down. Aside from the obvious #Bitcoin recommendation, one of the little cryptos he was recommending at the time was a little-known blockchain called "Steem-It". I bought some and then it started going up so I bought some more.

To make a long story short, I basically 15x'd my account from Sept 2017 to January 2018 on about a dozen different cryptos. And then the crypto winter hit. I watched my accounts go all the way back down to actually just a little less than I put in. Steem then became a drama factory with the whole JS thing and I just put it all out of my mind and quit watching it.

Fast forward to a little over a year ago when my only real contact from Steem dm'd me on Discord as Bitcoin was starting to rise from the ashes. We had a little chat about the whole HIVE thing and next thing I know, I'm loading up on #LEO in preparation for the #ProjectBlank snapshot.

In the meantime, I found out I loved interacting on #LEO and it was fun trying to grow my account again.

At this same time, I was devouring YouTube videos from influencers like Eliotrades and ToneVays, MMCrypto, and Ivan on Tech trying to get back up to speed with what was happening. I missed the whole "Summer of Defi" so I was determined to try and catch the next trend.

That's when I caught a video from Richard Heart. He had developed the "perfect" crypto called #HEX. The guy was pompous and arrogant, but he was also right. A lot. His little HEX had started at basically nothing and he was (still is) convinced it's better than Bitcoin. At the time it was trading for just under a penny. Being a sucker for a great story, I said WTF and threw some money at it, staking some for 1 year, and adding a couple more different stakes further out. If it did what he said it could do, it would be enough to retire. And if it didn't, well, it wasn't a lot invested.

So, to make a really long story short, I just ended my one year stake with #HEX at 24 cents. I bought 20k LEO, a couple of expensive cards I wanted on #Splinterlands, and sent a chunk to my bank. Lo and behold, it actually showed up as real money I can spend in the real world.

I wasn't sure this day would ever come. :-) But it did so I thought I'd memorialize it in a post.

After battling the 'vid for the last three weeks, it was time for me to write something anyway.

Anyway, for all you dreamers out there wondering if it's real, it actually is and I'm sure your day will come. In the meantime, seems to be a pretty good time to be acquiring #LEO and #HIVE. #OneUP might be a good idea right now as well. Things are happening everywhere...

It's nice to see you reaping the benefits of taking profits. Of course the price of things tend to be a gamble though so I prefer places like HIVE where you have more control on how you want to earn.

Yes, I've definitely got the vast majority of what I own here on HIVE. But in the crypto world of high risk/high rewards, I think it pays to take a flyer here and there on something with potential.

The space is littered with monster wins if you can get in early. DOGE and Shiba Inu, even Bitcoin and Ethereum. There are 100-1000x's out there but there's really no way of knowing which ones they are so....a little flyer here and there seems to be the way to go. Hopefully you get lucky. But if you don't, you didn't risk much.

Congratulations on getting to take some profit out and seeing it in your bank. It will be awhile before I can do that. But I have only been in this for a little more than 2 years. It will be three years late this coming summer. I am hopeful that I too will be able to realize some profits from my efforts and investment

Thank you! Yes, like I said, it's been a long time coming. I never want to take any out, just keep rolling it back in. But I promised myself I'd cash out this one stake when it was done so...what do you know, it worked out. :-)

I'd like to get to where I could just live on "interest" being generated from defi pools and then, of course, HIVE, LEO, etc. Getting $1M in HBD paying 12% wouldn't be a bad thing either....$10k/month in interest? Yes, Please!!

You're very welcome, @dagger212! I agree that a passive income at that level from all of this would be very awesome! It is way better than we can do from the banking system anyway. Best of luck on your journey! Have a great day! 😀

That is awesome I thought it was really cool when I received a Coinbase debit card and bought a few items with crypto in the real world. :-D

Yes, like I said, it's been a long time coming. When I first started, I didn't even know if there was a way to actually get money back out. It hasn't become a whole lot easier but...it's nice to know I can do it if I need to.

I've thought about the debit card but I don't think I want to make it quite that easy to access it yet. I want to keep growing before I take out too much.
