Hive Beginners Basics 101

avatar

I have noticed there are getting to be more and more new users on the Hive Platform. Some of them are stumbling around with no clear direction as to what they should do next. This post is to provide just a few of the Basics for those newbies.

HiveBuzz

Hive Buzz has a great tour that will help newbies to Hive learn a lot of stuff about the platform. It will also help you get your journey started.

Enter your Hive username and then take the "Tour". It shares several tasks that you can take to get up and going on the Hive platform. After you set up your profile, you should introduce yourself to everyone on Hive with an introductory post.

Resource Credits

When you first start, you will have very few resource credits. The amount will be so low that you will only be able to create a post, make a few comments and curate (vote) for some of the post your find interesting.

As mentioned in the tour, one of the first things you need to do is create an introductory post. This will help start your Hive earnings. Hive Power is what provides you with the resource credits needed to complete any transactions on the Hive Blockchain.

Gift Giver

This is a Hive faucet that will provide you a little Hive each hour.

Follow Others

Start following others on Hive that you like their content. Who knows they might follow you back and upvote your postings. However even if they follow you back, do not expect them to vote on all of your posts.

Follow people you want to get to know better.PNG

At the beginning, you are trying to absorb as much as possible without becoming over whelmed.

There is so much content, projects, games and other activities on the Hive platform that it will feel like there is just to much to learn it all. That is fine because I have been using Hive for over a year and still have not even scratched the surface of all the communities that are here to explore and learn from.

Enjoy your time here and ask lots of questions. Most anyone is willing to help you along your way. Who's knows, you might end up being the expert that everyone is looking for.

Just add value to all that you do on the Hive Platform and you will be surprised at how quickly you will catch on. Take care.

This is very nice. Are you planning to run a series on it? As for me, it was helpful that I joined through the CTP community. Then I took it from there and explored little by little about the different front ends that I could use and communities to interact with. Plus, there are the various contests to join. It continues to be a learning journey.

Keep the informative posts coming. Enjoy your weekend!

The CTP community is very supportive. That is the community I joined through as well. Thank you for the kind words. I am not very good at writing so I do not think at this time it will be a series. I am just attempting to try and share what I can when I can. Take care.

That's a good tutorial, David. It will help the newbie to start here on hive.

I didn't know about the gift giver faucet! Thanks for that.

There is so many apps that developers have created to help others that it is hard to know about all of them. Take care.
