PeakD - General Settings for Your Hive Account

Most of us never explore this section of PeakD but it is a very useful section so that you can adjust the various settings of Your Hive Account.

There are two ways to get to the PeakD Settings section:

  • Click on your name in the upper right corner then click on Dashboard. This will bring you to the above screen. From there you would click on the first icon labeled "Settings"

  • Most of the time you have the below on your screen because you were reading your "Blog" or "All Posts". If you look on the right hand side, you will see a box labeled "PeakD Settings". Click on that box.

PeakD Settings Menu

Both of the above will bring you to the PeakD Settings Menu page. The PeakD Settings Menu include several different sections:

  • General
  • Look and Feel
  • Content you see
  • Account metadata

PeakD Settings - General

In this post, I will only be touching on the first section titled "General".

  • Default Vote Weight for Posts
  • Default Vote Weight for Comments
  • Default Post Reward
  • Add PeakD as a Beneficiary
  • Automatically login into BeeChat
  • Select default API Node
  • Use AI node also in Hive Keychain

PeakD Settings - General - Vote Weight

I had always thought that it would be nice to have the Voting Percentage to display something other than the 100% it currently does when I go to upvote a post or comment.

There have been some days when I am distracted or in a hurry and forget to adjust it or adjust it too quickly and it ends up a lower % than I had planned.

Currently when I upvote a post, I upvote with a weight of 60% for a post and 40% for a comment so I must always need to slide the bar to that % before clicking on the vote button. By adjusting the % in the settings, the vote weight will now start at the % that you designate.

PeakD Settings - General - Default Post Reward

There are several choices you could make regarding how your posting rewards are paid out:

  • 50% HBD and 50% HP
  • 100% Hive Power
  • Use @reward.app
  • Burn
  • Donate to Hive Fund
  • Declined

So far I have only used one of the first two selections and most of the time I want my payouts split between HBD and Hive Power. This way I can convert some of the HBD prior to end of month and participate in the Monthly Hive Power Up Day otherwise I do not have any liquid hive to use for that purpose.

PeakD Settings - General - Select default API node

For this setting, you are able to select a specific API node or you can have it Automatically switch between nodes depending on availability. I like have the system change for me so that I do not need to always check to see which node is running faster or if a specific node is down for maintenance.

If you are have issues with an API node, you can compare Node Speeds or Status.

Great guide about the settings in PeakD David, and yes setting a default vote value is very useful, and also a few other settings as well, you can set the sort order for comments too, I always set that according to age of the comment, thanks for sharing and stay awesome.
