Happy Kwanzaa to you all!

This is a special time of year to celebrate the seven principles of Kwanzaa, and show our appreciation for our culture, community, and loved ones. From decorating our homes in traditional African colors to gathering around the Kinara to lighting the seven candles, Kwanzaa is a joyful reminder of the beauty and strength of our African heritage.

Let us take this opportunity to come together, share stories, and create memories that will last far beyond the holiday season — wishing you all a joyous Kwanzaa and a happy, healthy New Year!

Kwanzaa is an important celebration of African-American culture and history. It is celebrated from December 26 to January 1, and focuses on seven core principles of "Nguzo Saba" which are:

• Umoja (Unity)
• Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)
• Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)
• Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
• Nia (Purpose)
• Kuumba (Creativity)
• Imani (Faith)

Kwanzaa is an excellent time for families to come together and discuss traditions, values, and culture. It is a unique opportunity to learn about African-Americans' history, accomplishments, and contributions worldwide. You can learn more about this holiday at the link HERE.

Today, we will do a Monday Mission around this joyous holiday!

Today's challenge

As mentioned above, Kwanzaa is based on seven core principles. These seven core principles are all noble and important topics to think about in everyone's lives. Today, we ask you to pick two principles from the seven above, and tell us why they are essential to you or how you honor those.

Here are the seven principles again.

• Umoja (Unity)
• Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)
• Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)
• Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
• Nia (Purpose)
• Kuumba (Creativity)
• Imani (Faith)

Kwanzaa is a unique and joyous holiday you may not have heard about yet. However, it's a meaningful way to connect with loved ones, share stories, and create memories that can last a lifetime. So why not celebrate Kwanzaa this year and join in the fun? :)
