In every country around the world, it is the responsibility of the Government to provide security, health care, good roads, affordable schools, pipe borne water and so on for the citizens. This is the reason the people voted them into power so that they can use public funds to provide the necessary amenities that will make life easy for all and sundry. But in some third world and developing countries where some government officials vye for positions because of their selfish personal needs, they don't fulfill their promises to the people.

But does this mean that the people will fold their hands and make things go haywire? Well, in some cases, people come together to use their funds to do what is right, some people even do it individually if they have the financial capability. For example, in terms of water, there are some communities that lack clean and healthy water to drink and cook. Some influential people in these communities will sink borehole in their house and create outlets outside their fence for other households to have access to good water. This is what the government should have provided for everyone even if it will come at a cost - a cost that should be affordable for all.

Insecurity is the order of the day in most countries around the world and when it seems as if the government are not doing enough to curb crimes and bring the criminals to book, the people rise to the occasion. Most communities contribute funds on a monthly basis to pay the private security that they employ to safeguard them. Some hire security to guard them during the day and night, but mostly it is at night. Also, I have lived in communities where the men (young and old) come out in their numbers to prevent an attack on their life and properties. Security is everybody's business but if the government is doing enough with taxpayer's money, it may not be needed.

Presently, there are heavy rainfall in the country and there are some communities that do not have adequate drains to allow free flow of water. These days, people take it upon themselves as a point of responsibility to solve their problems by digging a drainage system. Some others that do not have the financial capability to do so are always victims of flood that destroy their properties and by extension rendering them homeless. These are some of the reasons people pay their taxes to the government but it is sad that public funds are being misappropriated and embezzled.

There are so many other ways that people have created alternatives for themselves instead of waiting on the government to provide for their needs. We have resulted into using generators and solar to power our houses and offices. If there are things that you can do as an individual or a group to make life easy for you, do it and don't wait for the government. They may take ages before they remember you.

Thank you for your time lovelies.
