The term judgement is not new to us, it is a phenomenon that takes place every now and then. It is in two ways - either you are being judged or you are the one that judge people. Most times, it is when we are on the receiving end that we know that it hurts to judge people because of how we feel when people judge us wrongly.

Never judge a book by its cover is a popular saying that drives home the point of not judging others without getting to know them. Most people base their judgment about other people on what a third party say, not knowing that the third-party's opinion is based on how they feel or perceive the person.

Judging is not healthy in any way and it has caused the end of so many beautiful relationships between friends, family, neighbors and colleagues. I could remember when I moved to a new apartment some years back, the first tenant that I came in contact with had already told me about most of the tenants in the compound. He had his favorites and the one he's not in good terms with. He told me so much bad thing about the ones he didn't like and I used these stories that I have heard to react to them for the first few weeks. It was after some time that I realized that I have been played. The people he painted bad were good and caring people who have the interest of everyone at heart.

Truly, if you haven't read a book, you shouldn't conclude that it won't be interesting maybe because the cover page isn't attractive. It is good to take time to observe and get to know people before you tell what kind of person they are. We should learn to relate with people with love, compassion and an open mind. This will enable us to get the best version of the person. A person who judges others will not have a place in the midst of people because the toxicity in them will chase everyone away.

In Africa, a large percentage of us are quick to judge people because of the way they dress, talk, walk and the kind of jobs they do. We seem to address a lady that wears short and skimpy dresses as a slut, a man with dreadlocks, earrings, tattoos and piercings as a criminal, etc. While it is easy for us to say someone is responsible because they are dressed in suit and speaks gentlemanly. Sometimes we have to respect people's views and way of life. In the Western world, Pastors in churches preach on the altar with these things that we categorize as being criminal. Does it mean that the man of God is not doing the right thing? Well, I think these choices are based on culture and exposure.

Moving on, it is not everything that the eyes see that the mouth must say. There are times when people's views about life is different from ours and we really want to speak about it, but you can save yourself the stress by keeping your mouth shut. You don't have to ruin your neighbor's day because you want to express your conflicting opinions. You really do not know the state of mind of the other person and the effect that your judgements will leave on them. You do not know why they choose to be how they are, so you should not always make comments about everything. Learn to spread less judgmental comments and the world will be less stressful for us all.

Thank you for your time lovelies.
