It was a memorable experience for me when I visited a zoological garden in a Nigerian University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. The trip down to the zoo was one filled with so much high expectations and anxiety which wasn't shattered anyways.

The zoo is quite large and it sort of put the animals in their natural habitats with tress, grasses and water around. It felt like I was embarking on a tour with a Nat Geo Wild crew when the instructor addressed us on the dos and don'ts of the zoo. We are not expected to move to close to the cages or try to touch the animals because some of them may be dangerous. Also, we were forbidden to throw food or any item into their cages.

Apart from animals, there were also trees that have been labeled with their scientific names. At a point, I wondered how they were able to get the names of each of the trees. Well, there are professionals who studies tree and the likes. It was quite difficult to pronounce some of those names, so I paid more attention to the animals.

There were quite a number of animals in the zoo which include crocodile, ostrich, phyton, hyena, tortoise, rabbits. I was unable to see the King of animals - lion - which was not in its den. I guess it was taken out on medical reasons. I would have loved to see elephant, camel, hippopotamus, cheetah and a tiger.

The zoo is designed like a circle, so we arrived at the same point we started from after the whole adventure.

Unlike the motive I had for visiting which is simply for entertainment and fun, I saw different groups who visited the zoo as part of a requirement for a course in the school.

These group of people had to be meticulous and note down details of what they were seeing as it may be needed when they are compiling their reports.

Thank you for your time lovelies.
