Problems have been associated with the Arsenal captaincy in recent years
In the last years of the London club, it becomes more difficult as soon as the player wears the captaincy, his order ends either with leaving or continuing problems, or with a noticeable decline in his level and departure.

The latest to join the squad was captain Pierre Aubameyang, who recently terminated his contract to move to Barcelona.

We review together the main problems that have faced the Arsenal leaders in recent years.

Granit Xhaka

During coach Unai Emery's tenure, the Arsenal midfielder got the captaincy of his team, but soon a crisis erupted between him and the fans.

The tension between the fans and Jaka increased due to his level in the matches, specifically in the last Crystal Palace match in which the team drew, the player responded to the fans by insulting them, then took off his shirt and threw it in the exit corridor of the stadium.

Laurent Koscielny

The French defender, he was Arsenal's first captain during Unai Emery's term, but he did not last long and ended his career with the Gunners in an unworthy manner.

At the beginning of last season, Koscielny missed many of his periods due to injury, and upon his return he participated with his team until the end of the season and after that the problems began to increase.

In the preparation period for the current season, Koscielny refused to travel with the team's mission to the United States, and declared his disobedience to the team's management until he left for Bordeaux, France, in the last summer transfer period.

Thomas Vermaelen

Injuries and the lack of participation were among the main reasons, which have been a hindrance for Vermaelen, the Arsenal captain since 2012.

Arsenal won the 2014 FA Cup, but Vermaelen could not lift the cup and did not participate in the match, lifting the cup instead of Arteta.

Robin van Persie

After the departure of Fabregas, Dutchman Robin van Persie was awarded the captain's armband, and he starred in a big way, scoring 37 goals in 48 games in his first season and winning the Golden Boot.

But in the summer of 2012, Van Persie surprised the Arsenal fans, with his desire to leave and joined the ranks of Manchester United, and led them to achieve the 20th title in the Red Devils' career.

Cesc Fabregas

He was only 22 years old, and the Spaniard won the captaincy of Arsenal, and he starred for a great period, but the performance began to decline.

In 2011, Fabregas decided to watch a car race in Spain about watching Arsenal's match against Fulham, so that the public became angry with him and left in the summer of 2011 to Barcelona.

William Gallas

The French defender gained the confidence of former Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, after joining from Chelsea for one season, to decide to give him the captaincy of the team, succeeding Thierry Henry.

But quickly, everyone began to doubt Gallas' leadership capabilities, especially after he left his team in the Birmingham match in 2007 and sat in the middle of the field alone.

The dispute continued between Gallas, his teammates and the coach, and the accusations intensified until he was stripped of the captaincy in November 2008, and then he left the team permanently in 2010 to join Tottenham.

Pierre Aubameyang

Aubameyang appeared at frustrating levels with the Gunners in the first half of the current season, to get out of coach Mikel Arteta's calculations.

And things became more difficult due to the player’s disciplinary problems, which led to the withdrawal of the captaincy from him after violating the social distancing laws related to the Corona epidemic.

The player was stripped of the Arsenal shirt and terminated his contract with the club, to move to Barcelona for 18 months.
