Hello everyone! I'm Dimma and this is my first ever video on Hive 😊. This is also my first time recording myself singing for public view. I'm no singer but I enjoy singing. Although I may not have a great singing voice, I finally managed to summon all my courage and confidence to do this for Hive open mic. Why I chose this song?

Well, immediately I read the theme for this week's post, the first song that came to my mind was Giveon's 'Heartbreak Anniversary'. It is one of my favorite songs with beautiful lyrics and tune that I've come to master overtime. And being the type to follow her first instinct, I decided to give it a shot without further contemplation.

About the song

'Heartbreak Anniversary' is an R&B/Soul music composed by Giveon, an American singer/songwriter. The song was released in early 2020 but I only listened to it for the first time in 2021. The truth is that before then, I'd never heard of Giveon. Heartbreak anniversary was the first song of Giveon I'd ever heard. I remember going through IG and stumbling on his page. The music video was a promoted post and I fell in love with it immediately ❤️. I proceeded to download the full song and since then I've been Giveon's fan, vibing to many more of his songs 🤗.

Now, this song is simply about a man who's marking the (first) anniversary of his heartbreak. The man recounts his sadness and expresses his difficulty in forgetting his ex. Although he may not feel the heartache all the time, on certain "days", he gets caught up in his feelings. He clearly still misses his ex and longs for her deeply. He also wonders if she feels the same too.

However through this song, Giveon manages to make pain sound beautiful. It is a song with deep meaning and imagery. Perhaps it also resonates with some of us here, so it's absolutely perfect for this week's theme and I really hope you enjoy my rendition of it ☺️.

Hola a todos! Soy Dimma y este es mi primer video en Hive 😊. Esta es también la primera vez que me grabo cantando para la vista del público. No soy cantante pero disfruto cantando. Aunque puede que no tenga una gran voz para cantar, finalmente logré reunir todo mi coraje y confianza para hacer esto para el micrófono abierto de Hive. Por qué elegí esta canción?

Bueno, inmediatamente leí el tema del post de esta semana, la primera canción que me vino a la mente fue 'Heartbreak Anniversary' de Giveon. Es una de mis canciones favoritas con hermosas letras y melodías que he llegado a dominar con el tiempo. Y siendo del tipo que sigue su primer instinto, decidí intentarlo sin más contemplaciones.

Sobre la canción

'Heartbreak Anniversary' es una música de R&B/Soul compuesta por Giveon, un cantante y compositor estadounidense. La canción salió a principios de 2020 pero recién la escuché por primera vez en 2021. La verdad es que antes de eso nunca había oído hablar de Giveon. Heartbreak Anniversary fue la primera canción de Giveon que escuché. Recuerdo pasar por IG y tropezar con su página. El video musical fue una publicación promocionada y me enamoré de inmediato ❤️. Procedí a descargar la canción completa y desde entonces he sido fan de Giveon, vibrando con muchas más de sus canciones 🤗.

Ahora, esta canción es simplemente sobre un hombre que celebra el (primer) aniversario de su corazón roto. El hombre relata su tristeza y expresa su dificultad para olvidar a su ex. Aunque es posible que no sienta la angustia todo el tiempo, en ciertos "días", queda atrapado en sus sentimientos. Claramente todavía extraña a su ex y la anhela profundamente. También se pregunta si ella también siente lo mismo.

Sin embargo, a través de esta canción, Giveon logra que el dolor suene hermoso. Es una canción con profundo significado e imágenes. Tal vez también resuena con algunos de nosotros aquí, por lo que es absolutamente perfecto para el tema de esta semana y realmente espero que disfruten mi interpretación ☺️.
