Are You Losing Big On Rentals!
If you have never heard about Splinterlands, you might hear about Pokemon or Magic the Gathering. It's a digital version of it with fat $ involved. Oh, you never heard about that too? Innocent Soul, splinterlands is related to the latest technology where crazy hivers collect pictures. Those pictures do "boom bang dish dish" with each other, and we earn money for doing this crazy magic. For some weird reason, people rent those pictures from us, and we are making some fat $ for holding them.

A quick summary is, I joined Hive from splinterlands in the bull run. My card collection was once worth 500$ at max which is now 100$+. My first legendary was 25$ which is now 3$.
I still got money in the sense of GLX, dec, and SPS. Till now I hadn't booked any major profits and have hopes to see another bull in splinterlands. While a few hive whales' reasons to be rich are cause they went APE in the earlier days of the alpha sale, my case is different. Since I was a Pokemon card collector just for FUN, my splinterlands cards are no different. I am not sure if I will ever sell or do some major selling. It's like I am crazy and like collecting these days, the little I have I keep as they make me happy. Totally worth every penny so far.
While I want to invest more in splinterlands I passed opportunity towers, lands, etc while I wanted to invest in them. I wasn't much active player too. I just like being a part of splinterlands as a collector. I am not a rich kid to invest ALOT of money from somewhere I am not making too much back. So, I structured my way forward on this journey.
Currently, I am using splex.gg for renting and using my rent money to buy more cards or packs. After this DEC fee update, I was losing big cause my investment strategy was to buy the lowest collection power before I switched it to opening packs. I had a bunch of cards (187) out of my 244 cards collection making a loss for me. Cause I was buying 1 bcx lowest cards and splinterlands introduced 1 dec fee while the rental was 0.1 dec. So, I was renting some cards while making 0.9 dec loss + every time my auto rental account changes the price, it charges 1 dec again. I noticed it recently.
All that was needed to fix this was
GO TO DASHBOARD
GO TO SETTINGS
BAND-AID ENABLE
POST LOWER ENABLE
MANUALLY REMOVE ALL CARDS BELOW 2 DEC ONCE
Now, my 0.1 DEC rental money cards are idle. They are not a burden on my income-generating cards even if that is too little. I am confused about where to go forward from this point as I will only use rental money to buy more, not sell sps and no GLX while I am selling vouchers from time to time. I am also not investing heavily in any NFT or investment token currently.
If you noticed, my lowest buying habit made a mess for me. Now a lot of my collection is not generating rent even after BAND-AID is Enabled. I have a few options like using the same strategy and leveling them up from time to time. Or selling all nonrental cards for me and paying a 5% fee and buying expensive cards. I am on a tight budget for splinterlands and haven't made up my mind yet. ALl I will do is spin things around to generate a better rental rate to move forward from this point while also remaining a passive investment in the game.

Renting out cards is a massively cool feature in Splinterlands. Using Splex for renting makes it really easy. I have been renting away all my cards at some point but now I am playing again to farm those cool soulbound reward cards. !1UP
In my dream land I see myself reinvesting 100% of my rental income for 5 years and then card values will shoot and my 25% of rental income will pay my bills while I will keep reinvesting 75% back to buy more. Just me and my dreams :)

My rental income took a big hit and was unnoticed for a long time. I hope it helps someone fix their holdings too. Otherwise, u know I try not to write much about games as I share my life stories more. I thought let's do this maybe it will help someone. :)

Well, I really do not know how the rental works but from your explanation, the tips you gave will be useful for card holders regarding making good profit.
you can try dcrops or risingstar with my link. Dcrops is like farming game 1 click after 15 days something and risingstar 1 click a day in 24 hours missions. Pretty relaxing games.

what i did was level up some cards atleast to level 3 (14 cards commons)
that way its easier that some end up being rented

I visited splinterlands discord and the chat was filled with bots vs no bots. I hope people actually play gave for fun and not profit like I like collecting my cards and increasing my collection. If people actually enjoy then it can be a bull which I think big collectors do love playing part.
