How to Set Trustlines on the XRPL using XUMM to receive Tons of Airdrops

XRP is a very controversial crypto, many stay away from it because others stay away from it, it has been delisted in the US so it is not easily accessible to some and others just don't like the price action. But, if you are an XRP holder, you have probably heard about trust-lines.

Trust-lines are like gateways to airdrops from upcoming projects on the XRP Ledger. I don't think any new project on XRPL would be dumb enough to sell their tokens directly to fund it seeing the case Ripple now has with the SEC. So instead, they are airdropping their tokens.

How to get the airdrops you ask?

Well it isn't as straightforward as holding XRP and waiting. You first need to download the Xumm app ( or use a ledger nano and XRP ToolKit, but Xumm is much easier).

After that you will need some XRP on your account in Xumm as reserve ( exactly 10 XRP, it used to be 20). Also, you will need 2 XRP to open a trust line with each project that is going to do an Airdrop. The 2 XRP is held in something like escrow and forms a trust link between your account and the project doing the airdrop.

If you remove a trust-line while the coins are still in your wallet, they wont be visible. Also, if you remove a trust line too early before the snapshot date, you may lose your airdrop spot. ( This actually happened to me with a very valuable token ). But, once the trust-line is removed, you get your 2 XRP back. So basically once you sell the tokens, or move them to an exchange and then remove the trust-line, you are good to go. The 2 XRP used for the trust-line become liquid again..

Below are some of the Trust-line Airdrops I have received. I have already sold small percentages of some of the coins but held on to them all as they look interesting. As//if prices spike again, I will sell more for XRP. Where to sell them you ask? Lets continue in the next section.

How to sell the XRPL tokens

The two ways that work best for me are Sologenic and XRP-Tool kit, these are DEXs/Assets management on the XRPL. You sign in with the the Xumm app which is a breeze if you have biometrics on. From there you choose the trading pair. Be sure to check if you are buying or selling as you may get excited. 😆

The xumm app offers an internal swap/exchange but the orders rarely get filled. XRP Tool Kit seems to have the most tokens available. Also, a lot of the XRPL tokens end up on bitrue exchange.

Here is a look at the Sologenic Dex on the XRPL. They are having an Airdrop to XRP and Solo holders on Dec 24th, so expect a little surge in SOLO and XRP as it is given to both holders ( more to SOLO holders I believe).

Where to find projects doing trust-lines

image.png
I first came across trust-lines in a Facebook group and then searched twitter for new projects on the XRPL doing airdrops. Twitter is a crypto researcher's best friend. #trustlines #trustlineairdrops

So I just did a search and found this NFT thingy called xToads. The airdrop will be this December 11th. Doing a little digging on their twitter they seem to have some value at play, and never underestimate the power of NFTs.

So lets set the trust-line

By clicking the link in the first tweet we are taken to this page in the Xumm web app. Check to make sure it is actually a trust-line you are setting. This is how it should look. Once you click confirm, you will be taken to the mobile app if it is installed on your phone.

Next, review the transaction again and make sure everything looks legit. Ok. So there is an issuer address and a limit to the amount of tokens I can receive ( That doesn't mean I will receive all that).

Now lets sign the transaction which will consume a little XRP ( and if you know XRP, a portion of that is being burnt)

There is a warning that pops up as not all trust-lines can be trusted. Rug pulls are on every chain, some will buy these tokens who missed the drop and others will stack up speculating, leaving room for ruggists.

And walah, the transaction was successful.

And now I can see that xtoadz has been added in the XUMM App, now to wait until the airdrop. Let's see how this project goes.

Are you using trust-lines and getting airdrops? If so, how has it been for you? If not and you hold some XRP, I urge you to try it out. NFA DYOR!

Bless Up!
