BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge - Briar Patch

Hello my friends! It's the evening of the day off, it's overcast outside, so I'm spending some time with my favourite game, and today I decided not to break tradition and joined another round of the BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge, trying out some strategies with the Briar Patch rule, which gives all cards the Thorns ability.

One of the battles had an interesting combination of Briar Patch and Noxious Fumes, causing all cards to take poison damage, and it seemed like a good chance to try one of the water strategies.

So my lineup:

BORTUS

Since I had decided to rely on Magic attacks and assumed that my opponent would do the same, I chose this Summoner, which lowers the quality of my opponent's Magic attacks.

DJINN OSHANNUS

A truly powerful card! Strong attack, large amount of health, ability to resist enemy magic with Void ability. The perfect tank!

VENARI MARKSRAT

Poisoning cards can be used to good effect, so I put this card in the second position, which thanks to Martyr ability will strengthen allies standing nearby when poison or enemy attacks take him out of combat.

PHANTOM OF THE ABYSS

The amount of mana allowed for expensive monsters and in third place was this mage with great speed, the ability to dodge enemy attacks, and great health. You never know what might happen to my DJINN OSHANNUS in the first two turns... A replacement wouldn't hurt!

RIVER NYMPH

Taking damage from poison is very unpleasant, so the fourth position was this card with the ability to cancel out the negative effect of poisoning. A few extra turns of head start is never a waste.

RUNEMANCER KYE

You can never have too many powerful mages, so I finished the combo with this mage, which can pump his health with the damage he deals. Very useful ability for poisoning.

My opponent was very smart and also chose strong water mages, and I was a bit worried about his strong RIVERBOAT CAPTAIN and NERISSA TRIDAWN, so my main hope was for VENARI MARKSRAT, or rather how quickly this card would die.

And I didn't have to wait long! We traded magic attacks in the first round, and VENARI MARKSRAT died by the end of the second round, giving me a nice speed advantage!

In the third round, both my opponent and I lost our RIVER NYMPHs, but the qualitative advantage remained on my side, and by the fourth round he was left with only one MAGI OF CHAOS, while my "powerful trio" remained in formation and greatly outnumbered him in health.

Watch The Battle

One of the main points in battles with the Briar Patch rule is the emphasis on long-range attacks, as dealing damage to yourself in close combat is a thankless task.... And I was very happy to share this experience with you.

I wish you success and see you on the battlefield!
