NFT hysteria - digital painting sold for $69 million

Digital art is gaining momentum and things are looking up for NFT to be one of the hottest topics of 2021. We don't have to go far to find an example - yesterday at Christie's auction a digital painting by the artist Mike Winkelman, known as Beeple, was sold for a record sum of $69,35 million.

The painting, titled "Everydays: The First 5000 Days," was auctioned as an NFT and is a collage of 5,000 digital works by Winkelman that he put online daily for 13 and a half years.

According to Bloomberg, the artist's work was the first lot in the history of Christie's, which was sold for cryptocurrency - payment was made in Ethereum and after the transaction Beeple became one of the three most expensive living artists.

The news sounds very inspiring, and since my wife is an artist, we will soon choose a couple of her drawings for tokenization and put them up for sale in the NTFshowroom :)
