400 million Twitter accounts have been hacked!!

A hacker is demanding $200 thousand from Twitter because he stole the information of 400 million Twitter users. The money he is demanding is supposed to be a recovery amount for the data of these 400 million users.

Some of the users are high-profile people like US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasion-Corez, Piers Morgan, Kevin O’Leary, Vialik Buterin and AOC. What he was able to gather is information such as their emails, phone numbers and possibly addresses of these people.

The hacker named Ryushi wants to sell the information to Elon Musk specifically because he knows that Elon Musk could be fined if word gets out about this security breach, especially from the European Union.

Investigations are ongoing to find out if the hacker's claims are true. Ireland Data Protection Commission said it will check Twitter’s adherence to its laws

Twitter is yet to state the matter even after the press reached out.

Cybercrime intelligence company Hudson Rock brought this to everyone’s attention first to say that people’s data was being sold.

Nobody is sure about the number of accounts that have their data assessed but the Hudson Rock’s CTO Alon Gal believes there are some signs that the hacker might be saying the truth.

If nothing is done soon enough the data will be sold on a cyber-crime forum.

Ryushi claimed to have used an issue that was noted in the system that allowed people to connect with Twitter and gather data.

Everyone thought Twitter had fixed this issue last year but this problem evidently still exists and it had initially cost them 5 million accounts. It is believed that the Ireland Data Protection Commission investigated this issue last year, so why is this breach still affecting Twitter?

These things are bound to happen, let's just see how it all plays out in the end. I don't know anything of what is going on I actually just heard of it now after reading this blog, thanks for sharing.
