Elon Musk pushes Twitter's political diversity to the next level

Yesterday, someone asked Elon Musk why he was seeing posts that were more right-leaning. The Twitter overlord explained that those who were more right-leaning should see posts that are left-leaning and vice versa. Although this does not mean that Twitter has changed the way it operates, it does seem to suggest that it should be taken seriously as it became a pinned tweet on his profile.

The main reason why this is strange is that similar attempts have been made in the past and did not yield good results. A Meta official has explained that in the past, Facebook was unable to manage the crowd of people with opposing views constantly clashing. The effect they wanted was not what they got; many people who had these views strongly opposed receiving information from the opposite end of the spectrum of ideas.

Mark Zuckerberg, that same year, said in a speech that people who do not agree with a post do not click on it and usually do not engage with it. He said it is more of a human affirmation problem. A few months after that speech, Meta said they would limit the politics spread around on their space.

I believe Elon wants to push his perspective on everyone else, but it may not be the right thing to do. "Free-thinking and logic" may not work for those who are more feel-based thinkers. I think it is a terrible idea, especially since it has not worked in the past. However, I cannot claim to know more than Rocket Man.

As for Mark Zuckerberg and Meta's reduced population, people were leaving for other reasons besides polarization. In countries like Nigeria, where there are far fewer diverse thoughts, people still left Facebook for the short-form content of Twitter.

In conclusion, I think Elon Musk may be wrong this time, and I would like to know your thoughts. What are the ways this can explode in Musk's face, and what are the ways you see this working? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.

Elon Musk making Twitter free thinking might be difficult. This is because of the Price of purchase. Plus, I think he wants to build Twitter in his own image, so much that it wouldn't really affect what's already functional. I just think he's not being 100% forthcoming about his plans.

I really don't think it is even possible for him to affects people's thoughts...He can try but most people are hard headed in their ideologies

Problem I might see with this algorithmic attempts to turn Twiterrati into moderate sensible centrists is in actual definitions of left and right wing not being properly defined and varying with different countries (like the abortion issue playing completely differently in Europe than in USA).

Lol...I feel like it's an American thing...In Europe do they take these issues as personally as the average American?

In Europe it varies from country to country, but cultural/social issues don't tend to be the main basis for political polarisation as in USA.

I see...the US has the most entertaining disputes on morality. Lots of rights and privileges
