I did this today because I want to get back to my habit of making music of music community and engaging here too.

The song stay by Rihannaer was composed by the name written on the title and was written by them too. The song was design to have emotional significance to both Rihanna and Mikky who worked to build that said significance over time.

Key, Chords, Beats and Bars

The song was played on key C as was Love on the brain. Although I have not done a detailed study on Rihanna's most comfortable keys, its easy to assume she feels comfortable around there.

The chords that make the song are the attention-grabbing C major played in the 3rd inversion on center C, the next is the D minor played in 3rd inversion followed by the A minor, played in the first inversion.

This melody continues throughout the verses and ending of the chorus. The 1st chord is played 3/4 on the beat and the 2nd chord is played 1/4 and the 3rd is played 8/8 to form a bar.

There are 6 bars in the first verse and 2 in the second verse.

The bridge starts with the introduction of F major, then an F major with D as the base both 4/4 then 8/8 for A minor. This is repeated twice before the chorus...a replay for the verses pattern.

One could argue that there were other instruments other than the piano in that song but it seemed purely piano-based.

I hope you love my presentation of the piano aspect of the song.

I played full chords on the base.

Enjoy...

1st time I've seen you so focused Bro, your silence spoke through the keyboard, I hadn't heard this song, I looked it up and you played it as is, I can imagine singing it with those variations in terms of musical structure, it's complex... Well done Bro, You Rock 👊😎🔥🎹🎶❤️🌟🍻💥💯

Thanks my friend. I hope to add the voicing when I'm free enough to and maybe learn more about back up too using the recordings

You did very well! You kept the rhythm well, do you like working with a metronome?

I haven't really tried to. But I will take a look at it. The original song was playing on my ear piece

Man, I need a piano! I would love to start writing songs on piano instead of just guitar.

It is very lovely. The sound is soothing to me and for someone like you show has been playing the guitar it will make everything redefined...

Do you play though?

I just play, I don't know what I'm doing, but I understand basic things like how major/minor scales and chords work. I think with that alone I could create something, although it wouldn't be super technical. I just learned that the Beatles were the same as me, they couldn't read or write music, they didn't know most of the chords they played, they just discovered them through experimentation. That gives me hope!

😁😁 gives me hope too.

I tried learning how to read music sheets and all that. But its difficult.

I play the piano and I can play the guitar of C major scale. I tried learning to play bass guitar but...I'm still learning I guess.l

C major is just the white keys isn't it? G major is pretty easy too. The first major/minor scale you learn on on guitar or bass is difficult but every major/minor from then on is the same, just a change of the starting point. There are 5 shapes to play it though. Not necessary but if you wanna jam or play solos it really helps.

Yeah...its so true...the rest is just finger movements when running up and downscale

Hmmn...
