Surviving on My Hive Payouts

Ever since the government withheld my salary because doctors went on strike, I have been surviving on my Payouts.

Last week I made $27 and the week before that I took a graphic design job. The job has been eating into my engagement time so I have been commenting less these days. I am making the finishing touches of the job so soon I will be back to commenting in the morning before work.

I hope they start paying us again, my goal for this year is $2,000 then I can start looking into buying a new laptop for say $200.

How am I surviving?

I have been making a low-budget jellof rice. If you don't know jellof rice...the best way I can describe it is that it is tomato paste rice.

I basically fry all the ingredients and throwing in the fried sauce into the boiling white rice.

I use sardine <$1
pepper >$0.1
salt
seasoning
Onions
Oil
Tomato paste

The last four ingredients all cost a little above $1. So everything is about $2 and it doesn't take time. the only time it takes is when I have to prepare the rice and when I have to fry the ingredients.

Yesterday's mash-up was nice and I want to continue with this when I get my salary. The food lasts me for more than 4 days. I even shared it with my neighbors.

Before I'd spend over $2 a day on rice then I still have to worry about the rest of the day's food.

Anyway, I'm off for work out now!! Catch up later!!

The Nigerian government can be very annoying and inhumane most times. I guess it's in their system.

I think I'll have to try the rice recipe too, but sardine is over $1 here lol, around 600 naira to be precise. Have a great day at work.

Are dried beans and lentils costly there? When I am short of money, I find they help extend a meal and they are so high in protein. They are inexpensive here, especially if you shop at cheaper places.

I hope your financial circumstances improve soon.

I'll look for lentils. I actually planned on getting some black eyed peas on friday. I'll add it to my shopping list.

Thanks for stopping by

Brother, how sad that doctors do not have the right salary conditions to work in a country that needs investment in the health area. I have read a little bit about it as I have seen that many times you talk about strikes. insecurity and forced migrations are also on the rise. My country Venezuela fell into these difficulties some years ago and that is why I had to migrate. I imagine that you as well as many of your compatriots think about it daily. Strength brother! and I hope you always have the essentials to be well as for those who work hard and for the good of your country.

Blessings for Nigeria my Brother 🙏❤️

Many thanks bro. I will keep the spirit up even in these bad times and try to find a life that is better for me and my family.
