Hello Everyone,

How's your No-Buy Month going?

I'm glad I kept a small budget for unforeseen grocery purchases (£10 per week) because we have had the first delicious champagne rhubarb come into the shops. I also needed some onions (missing from my organic vegetable delivery - it depends what they have in stock) and fresh ginger and coriander (cilantro).

Otherwise, I am doing well clearing my stock cupboard items. We've had one-pot jerk chicken and a quick chick-pea and spinach pulao (that's why I needed the ginger and coriander) and I'm using quinoa instead of potatoes. I've also been sprouting mung beans and enjoying some tasty stir-fries. I'm going to do a little menu-planning to clear the remainder of my store cupboard items by the end of the month. Here's my no-buy plans, if you want the background.

You can also check out progress with @justclickindiva's no-buy month:

Day 12. So far, I'm on track. Two take-out meals since March 1st. I plan to donate half of my savings to a hunger relief fund.

SPI Dividends changing to HIVE dividends Next Week

SPI is one of the SPinvest Get-Rich-Slowly family, just like EDs and EDSM. SPI is a growth token - everything that is invested is pooled and used to grow the SPI fund. The token started as a $13,000 fund: this week's SPI report shows a fund value of around $260,000 as it comes to the close of the third year.

SPI is primarily about growth, but it does also pay dividends. From next Sunday, these will be paid in Hive. This is good news if you want to grow your HIVE account, alongside your other savings.

SPI is a managed account and if you've seen any of the excitement about Leofinance's release of PolyCUB, you don't need to suffer from FOMO - SPI is managing the fund to ensure SPI holders benefit from PolyCUB activities. All done while you are sleeping, thank you to fund managers @silverstackeruk and @jk6276.

Building your EDS Stack - Automating EDSM purchases

Whoa! Have you seen what's happening to EDS? Well, there seems to be a bit of buy pressure - the price has gone up and buyers are scrapping for any available EDS. Someone must have been talking - who could that be? 😂

Screenshot (28).png

EDS is a lovely income token, it's currently paying 22% return and, at the moment, that return is rising and will for a couple of years. Again, if you are looking to build your HIVE account, this is a good token for you.

So how can you grow your EDS stack in the current market situation? That's easy: buy some EDS miners (EDSM) and mint your own EDS tokens. Last week, we talked about how to automate your EDSM purchases and already several Saturday Savers have taken up this option.

If you are going to do this, I recommend aiming to buy 10% of an EDSM each week - that is 1 HIVE per week. In ten weeks, you will own a whole EDSM. If you want to buy more and grow your income more quickly, increase your weekly purchase to 2 or more HIVE each week. Check your weekly earnings using Hive Stats and see what you can afford.

Remember to stake your EDSM as soon as you receive it, so that you start minting EDS.

365 Day Savings Challenge

It's Week 11 on our savings plan and we've added 4.76 HIVE to @susie-savings wallet - we're up to 25.56 Hive already! 🤑 These are sitting in the savings wallet for now. When last year's savings have finished powering down at the beginning of April, I'll power up the HIVE in the savings wallet so it starts benefiting from curation rewards and inflation.

EDS for Comments

Good job on your buy nothing month going so well! I've been noting the price and demand for EDS too, wow.
I'm plugging along, since I'm doing reports monthly now, I did put some HBD into savings at the end of Feb but since I had just made my announcement post, I figured I would make my first report at the end of March. I was able to get some good MTurk work lately, so I haven't needed to pull funds for cat food from Hive this month, which is promising.

No-Buy is getting to be more of a way of life than a specific month. I'm interested in how often I go into a shop, have a good look round, and come out without anything. I really like how space is appearing in my cupboards.

Yeah, good idea to report at the end of the month, you could also tie it in nicely with HPUD if you wanted to.

Good that you getting a little income and able to keep your HIVE 😍

@shanibeer(2/5) gave you LUV. H-E tools | connect | <><

LUV in the dark? The confirmation-reply may soon be turned off. This would be to conserve and replenish Resource Credits. Even while operating in the dark, your LUV command will still go through as usual. You can always monitor LUV in your wallet, at explorer A or at explorer B, or best, in real time at the luv-log channel on Discord.

Hello @phoenixwren. Good to see you're doing OK and moving along steadily. I read you're doing monthly reports. That's nice. I'm still doing weekly ones as long as it doesn't bog me down too much.

Take care.

That chicken is very good 😂. I cook it sometimes when we have a big family gathering and the pot is clean in about thirty seconds!

Good that you were able to get a break, sometimes we have to roll with the punches. Let's see what we can do in the second half of the month!

Great job in March without shopping, I made small changes like replacing my work treats with apples and discovered a savings on that one simple change, I'll have to check more.
At last I wrote my publication of goals , I wish you all a good week.

So glad to be a part of the Saturday Savers Club! I was wondering, I read back a bit on old posts regarding EDSM and how the process of EDS creating occurs, from what I read there are 8 lotteries with 20 payout segments per lottery a day, is that correct?

Glad to have you here 😍!

There are three lotteries each day, eight hours apart. Each one has twenty payouts.

And Each 0.23 payout is winning one of the 60 daily lotteries then right?

It dawned on me when I took my EDSM from 4 to 33, and so no noticeable improvement in EDS income, the addition of new miners like myself, dilute the chances of original holders earning an EDS payout and lower their returns incrementally over time and also discourage holders from investing beyond a certain point. Have you studied the effects of this?

Perhaps over time you can consider adding additional lotteries per day and/or more payouts per lottery. OR increasing the EDS payout per lottery win over time as miners are purchased. I think this would lead to much greater growing the long run for your established and wonderful project.

Another possible suggestion for the long run might include a rule limiting any 1 account from winning more than 20% of the daily mining lottery, or whatever percentage you deem appropriate.

Let me know what you think

The original lottery is based on all 2,500 miners being sold - then the lottery will be working at its planned level. Buyers who bought early have benefitted from increased returns as there were always 60 payouts, no matter how many miners had been sold.

There is a limit, as you suggest, and that is when all 2,500 miners have been sold.

Just a thought: have you staked your new miners? 🙂

yessir, staked them all immediately, Im guessing I was either super lucky in my draws or im very unlucky now? or im broken idk

eds_income.png

On March 3rd I had 6 EDSM staked.

After March 5th I had 33 EDSM staked.

what do you think about my situation?

I think it is the luck of the draw. I have had similar experiences: sometimes it seems like nothing for a while and then, like yesterday, there were half a dozen .23 EDS showing in the feed.

One more week here and another week that I achieved my savings goal. Congratulations to all on your savings.

Thank you for the win!! Savings were great till I saw some tokens someone was selling cheap in the middle of the night my time and I bought them. Great for the long term savings as it is one of the tokens I am collecting. Other than that another week went by I made my goal but then bought tokens so I guess this weeks is a wash. As for the no buy month I did not join in on that as this month would not be possible. Its almost gardening season finally some decent weather here so almost time to plant some seeds indoor to get ready. Have a great week one and all

You did say you would be busy this month, I hope everything is going well with Sharon's recovery.

Sharon is at home for the time being she will get her second leg in a couple of weeks then to rehab to learn how to walk with it. As soon as we get our balcony back (they are repairing it) tomatoes, onions, lettuce, strawberries, and some herbs that is all we will have room for. Have a great week

I'm trying strawberries for the first time this year, now that I've got the measure of tomatoes and potatoes. Lettuce is a good idea, nice to have fresh leaves for the table. I like growing beans and courgettes, too. Longer term, I going have more soft fruit bushes, I love gooseberries in spite of the prickles 😍.
You have a great week, too.

Good news about the SPI Dividends. I know I need to really time and study what is going on. I want to get involved in PolyCub, but just haven't had the time to research.

Thanks so much @eddie-earner for the prize my winning in the Wheel of Names. I appreciate it. Congratulations also to @ericburgoyne for your win.

I just finished my mid-month progress in the March No-Buy Month. Here is my report:

Welcome @justclickindiva 😍,
Your savings and no-buy are going so well! I'm going to do some meal planning to make sure I get through my store cupboard items by the end of the month (not all of them, just the ones that need using up). The tinned food is nearly done now, I think I have a tin of blackberries left (and plenty of apples, I can see a crumble in my future), and that is it.

Hello @shanibeer. I thought it would be more difficult this time, but so far, everything is going smoothly. A couple weeks ago, I visited my outdoor freezer, and discovered some items I'd forgotten I had purchased a few months ago. I managed to transfer some items to the indoor freezer. I need to rotate more on a consistent basis. I had to toss a few items from last year.

I decided not to add any other items to my pantry. I need to rotate again my canned items. I love smoked oysters, and discovered I had quite a few tins needed to be eaten.

I did have a family member pass away and utilized all my expenses in that category, plus $100 more. I'm on track in other areas, so this shouldn't affect my bottom line savings. It's good to plan for such events. That way, you won't have to dip into your savings.

Thanks for your visit. Good to hear you are doing well.

Is the buying EDSM through recurrent transfer automated or a manual operation? The first one came through but the first automated transfer wasn't picked up I'm afraid..

Hope you can shed some light on that. Really like the idea and would like to at least compound the EDS divs and with SPI moving to hive divs might increase the buy with that part too!

Also, is there another way to compound SPI tokens? My position isn't very large as I just let it grow over time with the same token divs. Now that this is gone is it buy only or do we have other options similar to edsm or cublife staking? Thanks in advance!

Hi, @riandeuk, the transfer are manual and will be done once a week on Mondays. There'll be information about the transfers in this week's Saturday Savers post.

SPI are compounding by holding them. At present, the only way to increase SPI holdings is to buy them from the market.

0

avatar

ahh that's quite unfortunate as my recurrent transfer is on late Monday/early Tuesday depending on time zone. I've done it like that so it's just after the EDS payout and assure that the funds will be adequate. Will see if I can fine tune this or do it differently. Buying it of the market and staking it right away might be more efficient

SPI won't be compounding anymore when the divs switch to hive I assume? other than the value of anything you already have appreciating in value of course..

Thanks for the reply!
