Hello Everyone,

So very sorry for what is happening in Ukraine, thinking of the people there and in other conflict areas around the world. I hope world leaders are able to come together and prevent further loss of life and hardship.

In Saturday Savers Club, we plan and prepare for a better life and offer each other support to do that. When momentous and scary things happen in the world, we can feel very helpless and that there is so little that we can do. In these times, the thing that we can do is to continue with our plans and look after each other and those around us.

Hive Power Up Day - 1 March 2022 and March NO-BUY Month

1 March is again Hive Power Up Day when you can build your stake and ownership in Hive. The benefits include having a greater say in Hive and earning increased curation rewards.

To participate in the "PowerUp Day" (HivePUD):

  • Power up a minimum of 10 HIVE on the first day of the month (you may be eligible to win prizes).
  • Write about your power up and include the tag #hivepud in the post.

From 1-31 March, the Saturday Savers Club is running a NO-BUY Month. This is a great way to check exactly how you are spending money, and to see if you can boost your savings by being extra-focused for a month. Find out more about doing a NO-BUY month in this post.

For the chance to win extra SPI in our NO-BUY Month giveaway, write a post about your NO-BUY Rules, how much you hope to save and what you will be doing with your savings. Then drop a link to your post in the comments below. You are welcome to combine your NO-BUY post with your Hive Power-Up Day post.

Hello @shanibeer. Hope your week saw you in good health. Been a slow week for me as I've been under the weather with a serious sinus infection, bronchitis.

Here is my Week 9 Saturday Savers Club report:
https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/week-9--getting-ready-to-help-my-savings-by-joining-in-hive-power-up-day-31-hivepud-or-2022-saturday-savers-club

Congratulations to @youyowi and @forsakensushi for winning in the Wheel of Names. It certainly is rewarding to earn while engaging.

I hope all Club members have a good weekend. I'm only spending a few hours at keyboard, then rest. I'll return later for more engagement.

Hope you have a good rest of your weekend. Take care.

Good savings everyone! This week has gone quite well for me, I hope it continues and I can meet my goals of 1000 HP at the end of the year. I have already exceeded 400 HP. I will do my post on Thursday as usual.

This week has not been profiting as I had anticipated and as such, I won't be doing my savings this week just hoping by next week I can meet up this week's and next week's goals.

Congratulations to the two lucky winners for this week.

Hello @carlynn, good to see you 😍.
Some weeks are slower than others, you are on your way ❤️
Sometimes when we are starting, it takes a little time to build up speed.

Congratulations to the winners. I have been adding regularly to my HBD savings but I may hold off on it to take advantage of these dips in the market for Hive.

I'm grateful there are so many people standing up for peace everywhere, even though the Russian police arrested hundreds, the people were brave to stand up and say no all over the country, because average people don't want war. I'm just so angry at people in positions of power who do such things no matter what their people say. I hope everyone in Ukraine stays safe. The pictures are heartbreaking. I just saw one today of a baby who was born in the metro station while they were taking cover there. You'd think in the 21st century we'd be working together to solve global problems, but no, governments apparently think heightened nationalism and war is going to accomplish anything ...grr. And don't think that I don't know that my own country (the US) is arguably the worst of all, but they don't listen to us any more than the Russian government listens to its own people. It's just ...can we fire all the governments, please? Just. You're fired. And you're not allowed to have the job if you are too rich, and rich people are not allowed to give you piles of money or you're fired immediately. We'd have a whole different world if average people ran the governments.

Related to savings, I imagine a budget meeting of normal people to be like:
"Here's our budget of more money than any of us could ever dream of, what do we do with it?"
"The teachers need money for their classrooms."
"The bridges are collapsing and we have sh*tty public transport."
"We need to build new infrastructure to make a better, greener power grid that can withstand storms."
"Healthcare for all."
"Let's make sure everyone has a home to live in."
"Okay, done. What else?"
The Pentagon: "Hey what about us?"
"Get rekt. Hey let's actually give money to NASA for once."

It is really difficult and very scary. In some ways, I can hardly believe it. In other ways I can, and the UK government is complicit in what has led to this. I agree with your thoughts about ordinary people planning stuff - that's why I am supporting this book that's bring published which sets out alternative ways of organising.

The Ukrainians and their leaders are impressive.

Oh very cool about the book, I somehow missed that post! Yeah if I had to define myself I'd say I'm a solarpunk anarchist. Mutual aid, sustainable living, free, non-coersive association, peace, justice ...yeah. I think a lot of average people like such ideas, we're just not sure how to get there from here. Always on the lookout for ideas of how to do so!

The ACG is a really great group of active people. They've been running a campaign through the pandemic about safe work, started after everyone was ordered to go back to working in buildings last year. Just recently, they've started a campaign about the increases in energy, fuel and food. Nick Heath, who wrote the book, is a founder member of the ACG (links to the their site in the book post).
