The three Hive that gets burned is more about preventing a Sybil attack where one person would create millions of accounts for free. In general all blockchains are very inefficient and can't afford to give these things away for free.
If you know anyone that needs an account I have thousands of account tokens saved up. I got these tokens for free using resource credits. These accounts don't cost 3 Hive. With 200k hive power I can claim about 8 of these tokens for free every day.

How does that work (if I can butt in)? I have a little over 9k HP, and I could be claiming account credits as a result? And you could still use the referral system, right?
That would make onboarding a lot easier overall. 🦾

Used to be you only needed like 4k HP to claim 1 account every 5 days.
Now the number is much higher due to more tokens being claimed by whales.
Nope nevermind did the math and right now it is still under 5k, so you should have enough for one and maybe 2 on a good day.
I appreciate the detailed explanation, but I don't have those options at all... maybe there is an account setting that you have set differently, or the fact that I haven't posted in a week. Let me get more active (the plan anyway) and then see what's up.

You are delegating away 5k.
That's not enough.

Remove like 2k in delegations and you should be able to claim 1 account per 5 days.
