Is water scare in your region too?

I like water a lot. In fact, my friend, Nora calls me Fish. If you call me a mermaid, you wouldn't be far from the truth. Except, of course, I am not fair-skinned.

On a very happy day, I make sure I bathe with two buckets of water. I love the way, the water flows from my neck down to the rest of my body. It's pure ecstasy for me.

My neighbor makes fun of me if I don't bathe more than one bucket in a short bath. I deliberately make sure I have an excuse to bathe more than two times a day.

So today, when I read an article here, and someone said they manage water in his country. I was shocked.

I told him this same story, and another human came around and told me, we are lucky to have access to water that much. He said, in one household, it’s depressing to think about water. And that one household gets 50 liters of water daily. They divide this into 5 buckets, 10 liters for each individual for a day.

Oh no! I don't think I can survive with just 10 liters of water every day. Washing bathroom and toilet, I use lots of water for every process. That's scrubbing, washing off the soap foams, and finally drying out.

After washing the bathroom, I use two more buckets to bathe. Imagine, being restricted on the usage of water, I don't know if I would be able to live with that. I know even if I feel I have access to more water than anyone else, there are people who don't.

I use to imagine, how people survive by buying water on a daily basis. And if you are in this situation, you will be able to relate more than anyone else.

Watching most people come to fetch water at home, and most times don't have money to pay, makes me cringe with fear.

As it stands, dad will always get angry if we waste water, and I never knew why. We prefer to have water running to rinse plates than to pour a portion into a basin for use.

As I am writing this, the experience still sounds weird to me. I don’t want to believe it.

Yes, water is life, but some people find it difficult to access this resource. I apologize to anyone who struggles to have water. I never knew it was a privilege to be able to use even a single bucket every day.

In my country, we have a lot of water, but the government, be in the low level, like the states level, or the federal level, don't do the job that they have to do, besides, so much of our water is managed by private companies, who work for profit and only profit, and the state-owned companies are destroyed in the intention of privatization, so, despite we having a lot of water, not everyone has access to it.

But in my city the supplier is constant, and I like to take baths... I have at least 2 for day, even in cold days.

There some people who hate that, even in the summer, they don't like to take a bath, or people who do that... but not everybody likes them, they stink, and look dirty, we call them "pessoas sebosas"(greasy person - its is a state of spirit too).

I think water is a precious thing, but is not to difficult to obtain, in the world there is a lot of countries that make salt/sea water consumable, and they don't have a large coast like Brasil has, but in my country, this is not a priority... the people are not the priority, the state sell the companies to other countries for pennies, sometimes after investing a lot of money to make things go right, and this happens with the support of part of the population(they are convinced by people that sometimes not even live in Brasil anymore, or by rich people, people that are owner or partners of some buyers), and the prices go up, the services go low, and for too much people this is ok, this is how the things are... but I think this is sad... maybe this will change one day.

But I also think that is not my fault if other people don't have access to water like I do, its sad that this happen, but the fault is in the people who favours a scenery where the water is a product for few... and I think you don't have to feel sad for it too.

Another thing, too many people say that water will end, but in my city, the water is recycled water, that is, the water is dirty and then clean, it is a cycle. What should exist is conditions for this to happen in several places, not just in some. Furthermore, the destruction of forests, the unruly use of water by companies, mining companies and large-scale agricultural producers, with plantations of species that destroy rivers such as eucalyptus, for example, and others big players, should be held responsible, not we, normal people.

So, I would dare to say: enjoy your water, your bath, and don't feel bad for it, its not your fault, unless you are a big mogul who monopolize water, or pollute rivers and lakes with heavy metals and chemicals. Are you a big mogul?

Wow

YOu are amazing with your comment

I must say I will stop feeling sorry for myself for having access to water

I apologize for your country and the way the resources are mismanaged and sold out to other people

I don't think I would be able to stand people who hate taking bath....but over here, people usually joke that such people have the most strength because of the dirt on their body...lol

I don't know how true that is though

yes at some point, I heard about the recycling of dirty water to clean ones, and I never wanted to even think about it.

But it is good for the ecosystem and humans, then I accept such measures to preserve water

I hope that we never get to reach the point where water will no longer be available as they say.

Thank you so much for being here and leaving behind such a footprint on my post sir. I appreciate

Having to manage water can be quite discomforting. I feel for those who go through that such experience

Over at my end, water seems to in an overflow as we hardly run short of it except we run out of electricity.

In all, grateful for the gift of it. Water is truly life

My friend, it's not easy for them at all

Over at my end, water seems to in an overflow as we hardly run short of it except we run out of electricity.

That is the same experience I have with the water supply. We run out of it if there is no power supply too

In all, grateful for the gift of it. Water is truly life

We all should be grateful for this.

Thank you so much for coming around

@edystringz,
I love water a lot too, and they call me all those usual names too: fish, mammywater, etc😀

But the way I show my love for water is usually only by drinking it a lot and by swimming in rivers and streams.

It's really a pity people don't have good access to water everywhere, but I keep feeling like they can be more proactive about their situations. How about digging Wells?
Not just one well for each compound, how about a compound has 3 Wells? How about storing water in great big tanks? You can transport the water from far away distances down to your place and store them. All these clearly costs money/efforts but how about a group of people come together, pull resources together and purchase huge tanks, or they can probably build water depositories for themselves. The governments can also do this, but I'm talking more about self-help.

Hehehehhee, some people could actually be a real fish with no one realizing it...lol

But the way I show my love for water is usually only by drinking it a lot and by swimming in rivers and streams.

I guess this is the difference between you and me. I don't drink water a lot except I just finished eating something. And I don't know how to swim either.

Yes, that is true. Most people are just too lazy to find solutions to their problems. They will prefer to sit back and look for someone to blame(maybe the government)

Water isn't scarce here, edystringz, but it is expensive. I guess that's one way of making people treasure water... by hitting their pockets. A neighboring country is having a drought and they now have to ration water all of a sudden... scary.

Oh, I see, if they are just trying to make sure people cherish and value water then it is better they keep it at the expensive level. Thank you for coming around, sir.

I've asked you this in other posts but I don't think you saw it. What country are you from?

The way he told me about water and "bucket" makes me even more curious.

I am also from Brazil as the friend up there commented.

Brazil is the largest country with fluids of fresh water mainly underground.

There are times of drought in some places where the reservoirs are very low and the population needs to save. However, they always blame the population, the people who live in their home. Although I think it is wrong to wash the sidewalk, the car, among other things often with drinking water and treated. But, the great waste of water comes from agriculture. Irrigation is very uncontrolled and uses a lot of water, as do some industries. They are the great villains in the waste of water. However, when there is a drought crisis, the poor resident is to blame ...

LOl. I am from Nigeria, Sir

Although I think it is wrong to wash the sidewalk, the car, among other things often with drinking water and treated.

We don't use treated water here to wash all of these things you mentioned. Unless what you mean by treated water is not boiled water(for drinking) but the already drilled water(then we are guilty as well)

But, the great waste of water comes from agriculture. Irrigation is very uncontrolled and uses a lot of water, as do some industries. They are the great villains in the waste of water.

Why do you say so? Shouldn't water be used here in order to improve production?

Thank you, sir. But I'm not a sir not lol

It's amazing that I can be here talking to someone from Nigeria and getting to know new cultures and ways of living.

Here in Brazil, at least in a good part of the country, mainly in the south and southeast regions and in the north and northeastern regions, they would be closer to the large centers or more "developed" cities, despite the fact that the North and Northeast regions are poorer ... Our water is treated and piped. He comes home by government-controlled companies. However, "drinking" water, although I prefer to drink the mineral purchased.

As for the water used for agriculture, yes, it is necessary. The problem is the way used. It is more wasted than used. So there is a huge expense for the little efficiency that they are using for this. He understands?

Yes I understand

Are you a she then? I mean your profile picture and the way you sound when I read your words.....Is this a clear sign of "don't judge a book by its cover?" Lol

I don't know why those people waste water though, maybe they need some orientation. Don't you think?

Oh no!

Here is a confusion I believe in languages from English to Portuguese

Lord here, although it is a form of respectful treatment, it also represents an older person, and although I am old, there would be no need for more formal treatment with me. That's what I meant lol

I have never worried about water. I am very blessed to have a system set up to provide all the water I could ever need at my tap. I grew up in an area that got over 40 inches of rainfall each year, which was enough to produce 3 lakes within an hour of my house. I now live in California where water is more scarce; however, we recycle most of our water, at least when I was in Orange County, we did. Much of the water used for watering lawns, drinking, bathing, etc, came from retreated water. Sewage is retreated to the purity of drinking water. If we will simply put into practice things like that, then water doesn't have to be as scarce. I did a whole paper on it a few years back...I'll have to dig that one up, if I can find it again.

Smiles....I would be surprised if you did not because your name signifies someone who loves to build something probably out of nothing.

Yes, recycling helps with a lot of things, not just water I guess.

I am so happy I made you remember this. Please try digging it up, I am sure you will find it.
