Hello everyone!

As a mother, I always try to be a better parent and I know I'm not alone!

Fortunately, there are a ton of information and we shouldn't be afraid to get help from others.

The program that I'm following is combined with professionals on the field as well as other parents who joined the program with the same goal.

Hopefully, this will the first of many videos about positive parenting :)

Thank you and enjoy!

See you next time!

I appreciate the topic, obviously parenting is a full time job for us, in addition to other full-time jobs! How do you balance positive parenting with discipline?

Oh, and let's all give ourselves a big pat on the back and an "atta boy" or "atta girl"!

That is actually the main why I joined the program: to try to find the balance between the two.

There are things that we can do slowly and with repetition and modeling you can manage some rules, and adding compliments and giving extra value when they do something good can help even more in creating better routines and discipline. All this in the most positive and peaceful way possible, which normally is not easy of course lol Let's see how goes the program. I'll try to create more content about it if helps :)

I can share the book the program is following, it's called Incredible Years by Carolyn Webster-Stratton

And I'm proud of you for keeping creating content while parenting, spousing, and working 😋

Love the presentation. It is true, compliments are key. They may not show it, but compliments can encourage kids to be productive, helpful and pick up after themselves. They strive for that feeling of good acceptance and will do more than you think they will, if they are encouraged with compliments. Another thing. I had trouble being told what to do when I was little, but I always made an effort to do anything someone asked me to do. Being asked to do something made it feel like it was me doing it in response to being asked, not being forced to do it because I was told to.

I try to compliment as much as possible especially when my kid does something I ask to or thank him for helping me when I ask to so it encourages him to keep doing good things and even take the initiative to do good things or things on his own.

For example, he would ask a lot to piggyback him but I can't do as much anymore because he's too big and my shoulders are hurt from my day job, I would look into his eyes while coming down to his size and explain to him that I can't piggyback him anymore and would thank him on the way for keeping going by foot on his own. He doesn't ask as much anymore but I keep encouraging him for being patient and keep walking on his own (we walk a bit from kindergarten to the bus station to go home).

Patience, persistence, and modeling :)

Yes, I agree with you. There is a dire need for today's parents to break away from some of the seemingly old/traditional methods we were trained with. Our parents felt that many of the methods will make us stronger and make us to be able to face reality when we grow older, but the truth is that many of their actions and words have left a terrible scar on many of us, and some now have PTSD.

I think aside discipline (which is necessary for children), we need to think positively and train them likewise. One of such ways is the words we speak to them to correct them, as well as to compliment them. Giving positive compliments to your son or daughter or children will go a long way to help them see life in a positive way, and break away from negativity.

By the way, it's bean a while you jumped on Threads: alpha.leofinance.io. I'm sure you'd wanna jump in to share your #motherhood experiences, especially this lovely program which you attended. I'm sure you'd wanna give us some tips on positive parenting. Also, you can always vote for your weekly motherhood authors and weekly authors for other Communities which you belong in every weekend.😉

In addition to this, a lovely, important, interesting and fun information about Threads is that by April 17th, threads is expected to be in full swing, and there will be an Adoption campaign where everyone is invited to join the race for 10k USD Prize Pool. It'll be a gamified and fun filled task, where you'll perform some quests and build your XP. I hope you join in the race. You can click here to join in, and if you have further questions, I'll be here to answer all.

Thank you so much for your comment!

I am very lucky that my parents were already different from their parents and me and my brother grew happily even with some discipline.

But this time I want to change for even better. Some kids today are more challenging and we need other and better ways to provide them with the best tools to grow and be a better person.

I've been slacking a lot, especially on threads! I will try to get back to it 🤞

I think that the comment above said it all but there is lots of help for anybody that wants to get involved in the 10k contest on the crew3 site or the leo discord.
