I N G L E S -- I N G L E S

Hello hello, dear lifestyle community, I don't know how to start this post, because... so many things to say, well, it clouds my thoughts just imagining it, since this encompasses many things, which can be reality or a myth, but as I have always spoken from my experience and what has worked for me, I will tell you how I discovered the Polyphasic dreams, it's a great story, but not everything is rosy.

I met this, just when I was in my process of independence, I had moved from my parents' house to a residence, to be much closer to the university. In that residence lived a very good friend, apart from our careers we were studying many other things individually, but we were running out of time, since we were spending a lot of time at the university, making our meals, all the time was being cut, we had less time for our personal interests (it was becoming frustrating, to feel that we were wasting so much time in other things that were not what we really wanted).

He started to investigate, a few days later he talked to me about polyphasic dreams and explained to me a little bit about the whole thing and the adaptability (I will explain it in a moment), that in a few words it was not necessary to sleep 8 hours (which we were not sleeping anyway) but that we could reduce that time to 4:30 (hours of sleep). At that moment I was a little crazy, I had to investigate, then between mine and his, we found a perfect one that could be molded to our need of the moment, since we were going to sleep 5:10 (hours of sleep).

I put it into practice and it seemed to me the best way to sleep, of course, as I said, nothing is rosy, I realized that it worked for me about 1 week after having implemented it. In that first experience adapting, it is complicated, since yes or yes, you must follow a sleep regimen, due to the fact that the hours are immovable, so I fell asleep at about 2 or 3 and woke up at 7 or 8 (it depended on the schedule at the university), you also have to take naps between hours, which are very important (things that did not bother me).

In this process I learned how to sleep better, much faster, so much that now I just touch the pillow, a few minutes go by and I'm already deep asleep, it's the best thing that could have happened to me in my life. The bad thing about the process is that adapting the body to this new way of sleeping can be complicated, since the first days are complicated and you have to know how to handle the heaviness, the sleepiness that it can give you, the exhaustion, among other things.

image.png

NOTA

If you are people who take naps in the afternoon, the process will not be complicated, but if you do not like to take naps, it will be complicated and you will feel the negative effects quickly.

As I already told you about my experience, now I am going to explain what polyphasic sleep is all about.

image.png

There are several polyphasic sleep patterns, the best known are Everyman, Uberman, Dymaxion and nap Everyman, each of them has a principle and a deferent style of sleep, some with more or less time to sleep in a 24 h span, the one I am going to focus on in this post is the one I implemented and the one I am taking up again, it is the Everyman 2, which is a variant of the original.

The Everyman sleep pattern:

image.png

Consists of sleeping a total time of 4 (hours), spread over 4 times of the day, which would be 3 hours of nighttime sleep in a row and 3 naps of 20 minutes, evenly distributed in the day. In short, a nap every 6 or 7 hours a day, until we resume our long sleep at night.

That if they are people who have a work of running schedule, it would not be very viable, although this pattern of sleep is very practical, perhaps we could skip a nap, but it should not always be. For this reason it is one of the most recommended.

Variant Everyman 2

image.png

The one I like is a variant, that's why it owes its name, this one has 5:10 (hours) of sleep during the day, but it is divided between 3, a long sleep during the night of 4:30 (hours), with 2 naps of 20 minutes every 7 or 8 hours. For me it is much more comfortable, since, I go to bed at 2 AM, wake up at 6:30 AM, until 11:40 which is my first nap, and the next one is at 6:40 PM (18:40).

In the example of the image below I ran 30 minutes, because it was much more comfortable for me to sleep at 2 o'clock.

With this method, I have approximately 19 (hours) a day, to do different activities, such as exercises, writing, courses, programming, video recording, editing, among other things. It is a performance that I am speechless, possibly in the future I will change to sleep only 4 hours, the principle will be the same, and with the training I have, it will not affect me so much the change.

image.png

NOTE

This method of sleeping is not something new, as there are many people throughout history who did it, putting it into practice for many years of their short lives.

Another example, closer to home, is that of newborn children, who sleep for short or long periods of time throughout the day. As they grow up, they get used to sleeping only at night, because they were influenced by someone else (not to mention that we breathe badly for the same reason).

image.png

Conclusion:

In my short experience, I tell you that it is worth it, although... this way of sleeping is not for everyone, since people who suffer from insomnia or some other relevant health problem, may carry consequences. The rest, with a good diet and exercise, could do wonders like me.

image.png

Would you recommend this way of sleeping?

The truth is that no, even if I do it, and I see myself benefiting, it does not mean that everyone will be able to withstand the stress of the first days or weeks; because getting the body used to it, is a task that requires perseverance and dedication. Whoever wants to try it, it is at their own risk, I recommend that they do much more research before trying it, because this is only a small part of everything that is behind it.
