Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge - Crypt Beetle
Hey folks 😁 Graham here.
Welcome to another Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge. Here is the original post if you want to enter a battle yourselves.
This week we are featuring a common Death Splinter monster called Crypt Beetle.
This is a card i had never used before as i have a bad habit of ignoring low mana cards with low Health but after taking a closer look i was quite impressed with its performance!
Splinterlore
Any explorers that delve too deeply into the crypts, mausoleums, and necropolises of the world will find a foe they are unprepared for. Not undead, not liches, and not other monsters that can be found in the deep. Instead, tales are told of the crypt beetles. Enormous insects that are found feeding on the corpses within. Most explorers think they are a mere nuisance and will try to scare them away from whatever tomb they are choosing to rob.
Edition: Chaos Legion
Rarity: Common
Element: Death
Attack: Melee
Abilities: Shield at level 1
Let's take a closer look at the stats.
As you can see this monster only really starts to get interesting up at level 5 but at level 10 it becomes a force to be reckoned with.
The main thing that makes it a good card is the Shield ability.
This monster could be used well in the Melee Mayhem rule set and also Up Close and Personal.
This is a 12 mana level battle with only Life, Death and Earth Splinters allowed.
I have 2 cards in this battle against 3!
Life vs Death
Ruleset = Holy Protection - All monsters have the Divine Shield ability.
Divine Shield - The first time a monster takes damage it is ignored.
This is a great Death Splinter Summoner from Chaos Legion with a couple of nice debuffs for the enemy.
First Place: Haunted Spirit
This is currently my favorite Death Splinter tank monster as it has really impressive stats for a 5 mana monster and it also has the Heal ability making it very difficult to destroy!
I have mine at level 3 for the extra hit point so he can really do some damage!
This creepy insect may not be able to attack from this position but he is here to take a few hits for the Team. With both the Shield and Divine Shield abilities he should be able to last long enough to help keep some of the enemy occupied and distracted from my tank.
As the warriors take to the field we get our first look at the enemy and it doesn't look like i have too much to worry about really. His tank is no match for mine!
Round 1 begins and ends with no damage taken by any monsters on the battlefield due to the Divine Shield ability!
Round 2 begins with the enemies Celestial Harpy monster attacking Crypt Beetle but it does no damage whatsoever due to the Shield ability!
Chaos Knight then attacks my tank Haunted Spirit for -2 health points which he instantly recovers due to the Heal ability! He immediately retaliates and Chaos Knight loses 2 health.
Round 3 sees a repeat performance with Crypt Beetle taking no damage again and Haunted Spirit healing himself. Chaos Knight also takes no damage this round due to the Shield ability.
Round 4 kicks off with my Haunted Spirit monster attacking Chaos Knight for -2 damage and Celestial Harpy is still unable to inflict any damage on Crypt Beetle due to its Shield. This little insect is performing better than expected!
Round 5 begins well with my Haunted Spirit monster destroying Chaos Knight assuring my victory. The rest is easy. Watch as the enemy is decimated by Haunted Spirit!
This was a great battle and i will certainly use the same line up again. The creepy Crypt Beetle performed much better than expected!
Check out the Great Battle to see him in action!
If you sign up with my Referral Link and purchase the Summoner's Spellbook i will delegate you 5 cards to help you get started. At least one of these will be rare or higher.
