Trapped

at bay in the ocean
strangled by thirst
in the den of the righteous
talks of fangs and guns
unaccounted conversations
glimpse of hope chartered
pain and agony in the atmosphere
unwavering loyalty, they say
pledging into slavery
a covenant made by the dead
engraved in the living
we sat in squares
in shapes of our desires
making unkept promises
the lord our witness
