🌱Early in the Season

avatar

It's that time of year, where we (the kids and I - mostly @freyamber) go around and trim some bushes and tree limbs, shape the berries and ultimately plant some more trees. I love nature and all the hidden beauties of it. From the insects to the thorns to the sweet and sour fruits of all of our labors together. Here is an early look at what we have going on this year.

image.pngimage.png

Grapes are looking half-way decent. Figure should get (we counted) at least a dozen bunches off of this particular vine. Got a few smaller ones that may have a couple, but this one has almost doubled in size since last year.

image.pngimage.png

The blueberries are doing awesome. I'm predicting triple the production this year from last year as long as I don't accidentally run any of them over or snip their boughs 😁

image.pngimage.pngimage.png

The reds! My red raspberries did way better than I thought they would. I was only expecting 1 of the 5 I planted to make it because they got choked pretty hard but 3 of them did! One even went ballistic and shot runners everywhere and even reached the fence!

image.pngimage.png

The blackberry patches seem to be a favorite of the kitties. I have regrown one that was taken over by the honeysuckle last year and cultivated four other patches. I'm expecting about 3 gallons of those sour delights this year.

image.pngimage.png

Got some pretty baby blues this year! I've been cultivating 2 new patches of the blue raspberries and caring for the mighty fine mature ones. They have almost taken over the entire length of the back fence on the end of the field!

image.pngimage.png

And yes, my apples and peaches. They look much more healthy than they did last year and are giving me reassurance that I can do well with the cherries out here. I have both black and red cherries potted up by the house and am debating whether or not to ground them now, or wait until Autumn. What do you think? Oh ya, REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when my thumb is a pin cushion.

I am still waiting for the apple and for the other fruit trees in the garden of my current rent to produce fruits, but they were full in the previous year. Many of the fruits fell down on the ground over time. Hopefully this year will be similarly good.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

They usually don't put out any fruits for a good month or two yet. Long as the flowers are popping, makes me happy! You ha e a cooler climate though, might be another 2 months over there!

This is awesome. By summer you will have a nice harvest. I've been too tired to plant anything. I have some wild berries that will be ripe in the beginning of June.

Stay healthy and have fun !LUV

Awesome! We use them for multiple things. Jams, syrups, wine and just plain eating. Real good on/in desserts too😇

That’s one hell of a list of crops bro. If you are going to have enough rain I would plant them now. If you are going to be very dry then hold off.

May be fairly wet. April showers and all that😁

What is your hardiness zone? Also, your garden look amazing! I wish my blue berry looked that good. Unfortunately, it grows in a container as I don't have a garden to plant it in.

Holy kick ass. Not sure they do well here tho. You come to the block party and I swap ya some berries for some mangos?

Awesome stuff! I nearly had a bunch of grapes last year myself.. then I didn't. I'm not sure if they died on the vine or if a critter made off with them. Probably the later.

Super jealous about the apples and the peaches.

I'd lean on a lol critter too. I've seen chipmunks go all stuff my face and clean a bunch of 🍇 in about 15 minutes including run time to their hidey hole. Cats keep them at bay here😉

Oh wow! Looks so lush and green! I could walk around there all day! I am jealous though - I could not grow apples and peaches here in the tropics. Sigh! Hehe. I love the photos @enginewitty Thank you for the awesome virtual tour!!! Good morning!

It's a bit of a walk too! What kinds of things can you grow there?

We grow coconuts, bananas, mangoes, guavas, mud apples, sugar apples, rambutan (tastes like lychee) and many others :D

mud apple is sapota or sabodilla if you're familiar? it's soft brown juicy sweet like honey fruit. sugar apple or custard apple. the green cottony fruit with a bunch of seeds?
