Planika - Edelweiss

This sturdy yet beautiful small bush of planika flowers, internationally known as Edelweiss, represents many things to me.

Mountains, freedom, nature, perseverance, life, independence, ... Don't ask me what connections my brain does to come up with these associations. It's natural 😃

I tried to make a close-up/macro shot of these tiny beauties yet didn't succeed. This was the best shot.

It's hard to get focus on a white-on-white object with a smartphone camera ...

Two small bushes of planikas grow and prosper by the shepherd's hut on the Grohot mountain below Mount Raduha.

Planikas are protected and mustn't be picked. Growing them like this is a great way to preserve them.

So, next time you are in the vicinity you know where to go to admire planikas.

Ps: panorama photos of Mount Raduha will follow in the next post.

Beautiful flower bush. I would love to know how they smell!

Hello and thanks. I don't believe they have a very strong smell. They depend more on the wind to distribute the seeds.

Nice. Which part of the country? How long to walk to the top? Is there a 🏠 on top to drink something? !LOLZ

Northcentral Slovenia. Above Solčava or Luče, it depends on which direction are you coming.

This, 40 minutes walk if you drive high enough :)

Or you can call/message me in advance and I will arrange something :)

For now, it's a plan that we'll go to the top of Raduha tomorrow. I don't know about the route yet. maybe Grohat, maybe Loka. For sure, I'll be running/hiking from Solčava to the top.

Yes, they were challenging to photograph, for sure. 😀
In my country they are known simply by their international name. Or at least that's how I know them. I remember how in my childhood dedicated mountaineers would always bring home some plucked flower, despite the ban on picking (don't ask me how and why this happened, since I myself refuse to pluck flowers even in the garden 😌). But what strikes me about your post is that these flowers can be planted and grown, which is wonderful and really a great way to preserve them!

Hey, thank you very much for your great comment. I appreciate it.

The local shepherd planted these flowers and he knows what he's doing :)

Have a great weekend.

For sure, he knows what he's doing. It's so good there are still such people who care.
Have a wonderful weekend too!
