This is the type of run I take when I wish to keep it as simple as possible for a trail run. It's a 4 kilometer long run into the Magpie's valley, mostly on the tarmac with a 130meters of the climb, most of it in the last kilometer.

FOr the first four kilometers, I keep easy to a steady pace. At the top, I do some exercises, Lap 5 below shows that. On the return, the first 500 meters are all downhill so this kilometer is the fastest. Afterward, I keep a steady to day pace with the last 500 meters at a goal pace.

All considered it's a basic exercise with three goals met:

  • some climb,
  • some exercise
  • some tempo run

An average pace of six minutes with two minutes not moving and a climb is quite good for me. There'll be an improvement through time, of course.
