Podbrdo Trail Marathon
It was a lovely Saturday, June 19th, 2021. Old friends met in Podbrdo to enjoy a day in the mountains.
After a year without the event, Podbrdo Trail Running Festival was back with three distances: 107 K ultra, 42 K marathon, and 27 K run which also counted for short trail marathon national championships.
It really was special to be back in action with all these people. Podbrdo is one of the best organized and appreciated events in Slovenia. Add to it a demanding course, beautiful mountains, friendly locals, breathtaking views, ... and you get a special day on the trails.
My role was to accompany the last runners on the 107 K event. I was a sweeper. It was a fun run and hike in good company.
In the end, the result was 44.7 kilometers with 2900 meters of climb. The time wasn't important.
Let the photos tell you the rest of the story.

Shameless self-promotion because I deserved it :)

44km? good grief. Feel free to promote yourself on this one as much as you want, it is well deserved
Thanks. The photos miss the story yet I am too lazy to write it.
It's easier to spend the day on the trail than to write about it :)

Wow, such nice mountain views, along with that blue sky, perfect! Almost 45km with so much climbing, that's also really impressive, congrats! Right now, I can't even imagine running anything longer than a half marathon, but this kind of scenery would be one way to convince myself to try longer distances.
It was beautiful and demanding. Many steep climbs on a very hot day. Fortunately, the majority of the trail was in shade.
You could do it. Step by step :)
