If you want to make the most out of your Splinterlands collection, you have to play it yourself and win! That's what's going to make the most bang for your buck. But if you want to win, you have to study the game, otherwise you'll do nothing but waste your time, all while not earning as much as you could.

That's what we're doing in Bronze TOP BATTLES Studies: we analyze three battles from the highest MMR players, learn their strategies and try improving upon them. That's how we're going to become great players that make more money. We begin after our giveaways!

This battle is an amazing reminder of how much stronger Plado Emberstorm can be, even if an opponent uses Yodin Zaku. Melee damage might get a lot of easy counters, such as armor and the Thorns ability, but it's also the easiest one to capitalize in.

Even if Yodin Zaku also provides a boost to damage, ranged creatures with abilities usually cost much more mana during team selection. Combine that with how Yodin Zaku costs 7 mana himself, and you have a major disadvantage that wasn't overcome in this battle.

Look at those numbers! 23 mana in the Yodin Zaku team potentially deal up to 23 damage. 25 mana in the Plado Emberstorm team deal only 16 damage. How does Plado win, then? Well, by utilizing Magnor, enemy damage never reachers the backline filled with sneak attackers. They're the damage dealers, so they keep going until they win, while Magnor dodges and tanks many attacks.

You could say @voidwalk had stupid luck in this battle, and you wouldn't be wrong. @captjack's team missed all of their attacks on Spark Pixies for the whole battle.

Nothing like an ounce of luck for the day, eh? Not really. @voidwalk's team had a lot more damage. You're going to face either tanky monsters or fast monsters in high level. @voidwalk's team was built towards an enemy Yodin Zaku.

There was no reason to fear a magic composition in this match, because Water Splinter was disabled.

So... Tusk the wide started the battle with 15 health. FIFTEEN WHOOPING HEALTH POINTS! Specially considering he's only 6 mana, up until now, he's the best meat shield I've seen in bronze league.

Getting Tusk that fat assured victory over Hill Giant, which wasn't so bad himself at 8 health for 3 mana. The difference is how that 3 extra mana spent on defense made sure @krazorcen's attacks would never reach the backline.

If you don't have enough damage to get through the enemy frontline, then focusing on Snipe and Scattershot could have been the way to go.
