The Horror of our cultural Education verse The British Curriculum

Recently I was looking through the methods of teaching in this 21st century in schools and it definitely got me amazed. In Nigeria, acquiring Knowledge with the British Curriculum has not only made teaching kinda easier for teachers but has also made learning fun for students.

While I was little, we were used to reading and reading, cramming, we were expected to write exactly what the teacher has taught us during exams. It was of course strictly teacher centred. We were not given the opportunity to think and come up with our own ideas. The most awful part was the corporal punishment on students when mistakes are made. I remembered my maths teacher back then in my secondary school days, He had a day set aside for beating those that does not get his test right. The day was called (Ojo Ayo ati Ojo Ekun) meaning a day to rejoice and a day to weep. Those that got his test all right goes happy while the rest are beaten seriously. Learning was under harsh and strict conditions.

Now Learning is student centred, Pupils are free to express themselves. They contribute 80% to classroom activities. Learning video, pictures, games activities, dramas and Quiz are used to assimilate better in the classroom.

You will be surprised what children of nowadays are capable of doing and the kind of knowledge they have.

As a Parent, am excited my kids wont have to go through such horror of education system we have back then, NAH they definitely do not deserve it.
Well am definitely such its getting better and better.

The Children are our future, we should always treat them with respect.

CHEERS.

Yes you are right most of the things that students nowadays are enjoying it but then there's nothing like that when you fail in any test or your assignment the teacher will beat us.

Today's children are feel free to express their mind and to say things based on their own knowledge and how they understand this this is really make their study to be more easy.

And you can never compare olden days study to nowadays study because now we are in the area of technologies, so a lot of things is done based on technology process, so that make things easy for students.

And this technology of a thing, how to make a lot of students not to face their study but some of them do not have time or I will say they miss use the opportunity of computer.

Instead of them to use their phone or computer to read and acquire knowledge they will be using it to do another thing.

It still goes on in most schools in Nigeria, the whole cramming and word for word thing and the whole beating thing. The change is still on a very minor scale. As I've grown older, gotten more educated and exposed I'm shocked at how foolish the system is and how foolish the adults that perpetrated the system was and still is. Painful to know that only very few human beings are worth anything intellectually.

That's true, the change is not effective all around the educational system in the country. Its more effective in private schools.

This is so true actually learning in this century has improved very well unlike men most of us we are still in primary or secondary school where we get to use some board which is called slate to attend school and by then we do right with chalk only. I remember during my secondary school days most of the things we do then is cramming work garbage in garbage out, if not like that you won't pass your exam but in our present day generation education has gone too far beyond what we used to know before ranging from learning online with sophisticated devices such as computer and others, most children even at the age of 10 knows how to operate computers phones and other gadgets perfectly this is the improvements we have in education sector now and which is absolutely applaudable
