Das Schmeckt! Shopping for German Food

avatar

Every year my sister sends me a reminder when Aldi stores have their German food week. Granted, these commercially available convenience foods are not nearly as good as having your Grossmutti in the kitchen making things from scratch, but they are more interesting than a frozen pizza or a fast food burger.

The pretzels and strudels are nice treats. The schnitzel I will serve with lots of vegetables for a hearty dinner. I am a lazy and rather careless cook, so I appreciate help with tasty meals. My talents are more in the sewing room

There's a reason I am "Fiberfrau" and not "Foodfrau."

I know exactly what You mean!
Grew up near Stuttgart, in TX now...
Yep, nothing like homemade Spatzle, usw!
Although I did work at a German Bakery/ Snack Shop here...🤔
Still miss it all!

Danke! I'm eating some of the cookies right now. Will have to exercise afterwards--or else let out the seams in my dirndl. !BEER

Bitte!
When I worked at the Bakery, I was eating "Currywurst, and Landjager" until one day the owner said to stop, they are for customers...
I think he should have just gotten more!
😉😀😅
Yeah, I miss it all. Growing up in Schwabenland will get you hooked on a lot!
(I have lost 52lbs in the States)! 😲

Have an Amazing Wochenende !

Drat, we don't have Aldi's in my area. I would certainly try out that apple strudel! I suppose I could go find a recipe and make my own....
