Home Decoration Challenge: Small Quilt

brownquiltclose.jpg

For the Needlework Monday challenge I chose to finish a small quilt from my UFO (unfinished objects) pile. I had pieced the top and cut the backing and even pin-basted it together, but it needed a binding around the edge. I cut wide (2 inch) bias strips from a remnant of orange gingham check fabric and pieced together enough to surround the quilt's perimeter.

Now the binding has been stitched to the front of the quilt, corners mitered, and turned to the back where I will turn under the raw edge and stitch it by hand. A few thread tacks within the body of the quilt, and I will have a nice little lap or crib quilt. I bought no fabric for this project. It is made from the good parts of an old blue sheet and from all my brown print leftovers.

Oh, beautiful. Beautiful! I’m so absolutely envious, I could cry(or beat the table in frustration, with a rapid tattoo). My ex sister-in-law and I, have been planning a quilt-making colab, but we haven’t got very far. Now, now...you’ve inspired me NO END - expect to see pictures shortly. Haha 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wow what a great idea and a wonderful entry for our decor challenge! That was so clever of you to use leftovers instead of purchasing new fabrics. It turned out really cute.

Thanks for participating ~

I always admire quilts. The combination of geometric forms, colors and the precicion which is needed to make a quilt are awesome. I love the warm brown and golden colors you have chosen and the design with the small and bigger squares let the colors shine.
