"Live Not by Lies"

avatar

Decades ago I was part of a large group of people sued for peaceful 1st Amendment protest. As a writer, I had a paper trail of pro-life editorials and such, so as a young mother with little life experience I was dragged in the the "discovery" process and deposed for 3 days by hostile attorneys looking for a fatal sound bite from me. These attorneys went from calm to belligerent to despondent over those 3 days. My own attorneys explained that they were confused by all the defendants who just told the truth, question after question, day after day. That was not what they expected.

How sad that truth is the exception, not the rule. Covid reminded me of that. During Covid I decided to not participate in any lies, no matter the cost to me. I turned off every newscast when the "experts" came on. I ignored every big pharma advertisement. I was willing to lose my job if they did not recognize me as exempt from masks--because the masks are a lie and I refuse to lie. It is literally against my religion.

After nearly 60 years of trying to live in truth, I came across this gem from Solzhenitsyn. "Live Not by Lies" is a fabulous essay that describes the way to resist evil lies in even the most despotic places and times. Even if you are afraid to speak the truth yet, you can refuse to speak the lies and refuse to listen to them. Imagine the impact of millions of people simply not accepting the lies. That would lead to more people actually speaking the truth, which would snowball into an avalanche of truth that could save this mess of a world.

Think about this. Thanks for reading.

But who decides what is the truth? I mean how do you know?
I don't take the whole mainstream media message as truth, but I sure as hell don't consider anything I read online as truth.

Scientific truth is challenged, replicated, documented, corrected for new information, etc. Which means most covid stuff was not science because it was deemed above challenge and people profiting from it were exempted from any consequences/liability for their errors. Truth is revealed through the order in the created universe. Math is truth. Biology is truth. Most politics is denial of truth or arrogant replacement of truth with utopian fantasy.

Math is truth. Biology is truth.

I agree with this. It's something that the majority considers to be true. So it is true.

Actually, math would be true even if nobody believed it. Because objective, transcendent truth exists. Calculus would still explain a lot of reality even if Newton/Leibniz had not discovered it. Water would boil at 100C even if Congress passed a law saying it boiled at 30C. Truth just IS. Our job is to find what is already true.

Objective Truth can be practically demonstrated. To discuss topics and discover truths, both parties need to agree on first principles. This is what the natural sciences are all about. Modern science is more a belief system using mathematics (which is just a language) to fit models and ideas that usually have no bearing on reality.

In a world where manipulation is a norm, truth is often hard to see.

What do you make of the lockdowns in Shanghai?

PS: You've got my vote in Listnerds.

After teaching through a book on 20th century history, I can only say nothing in communism has any redeeming value. China views the people as expendable and those poor citizens have my prayers and sympathy. Those who welded doors shut and killed people without remorse will eventually burn in Hell unless they repent. Mao will be waiting for them.

China views the people as expendable

It is definitely a difference in approach. In many eastern countries (not all communist in structure), what is decided to be the greater good (which is very subjective and debatable) prevails compared to the individual and his rights. In the west, it's generally the reverse: the individual is at the base of society and his rights are not debatable (in theory, because in practice with had lockdowns and other rights 'suspended'). That's why Russians aren't moved by the atrocities they commit, while the West is.

Good post, Kimberly. Very thought-provoking. It is hard sometimes to find the truth when there is so much false reporting.

I agree always tell your truth as it is.
I think fear has muddled peoples minds and they become afraid to tell the truth.
I love that you are walking your talk.
Peace

Fantastic post. We are living under a globe cult and the big question is, if they wanted to just control us and restrict us, they could do this without the huge physcological campaign. So what are they really hiding from us to warrant so much effort?!
